Mercury

The smallest planet in the solar system and nearest to the Sun, Mercury is only slightly larger than Earth's Moon. Despite that it is both the breadbasket and the energy production of the Human Elevation Foundation

Geography

Mercury's surface is similar in appearance to that of the Moon, showing extensive mare-like plains and heavy cratering, indicating that it has been geologically inactive for billions of years. It's largest notable elements are a massive band of solar panels that wrap around the planet and beneath them a massive drone run and human maintained collection of hydroponic plantations producing over 300x the food needed for the planet. At the poles sits two small cities and planetary space ports, both small but very advanced as is Foundation standards.

Ecosystem

It is a barren world and has no natural ecosystem.

Climate

The surface is uninhabitable however all living spaces are designed to replicate Venus' climate and gravity, however heat from the sun tends to leak in.

History

Mercury was one of the last planets widely settled. First only at the poles for solar research it would later become a power hub as solar energy generated on Mercury are over twenty times more efficient than those produced on earth. It would later see use as a food production sight for the Foundation. The cities at the poles became both export hubs and the home of the Mercury Culture Manipulation Research Institute and it's sister institution the Church of the Collective God.

Tourism

Tourism is rare to mercury but some make pilgrimages to the Church of the Collective God and its labs and headquarters in the poles.
