Origins and History

When young Strions would go on their first adventures, they would bring with them only what they believed to be necessary. However, because they had little to no experience of packing for an adventure, they would often forget important items that they would need to survive.
Because of this, travel packs were created. A travel pack is a pre-prepared bag containing all the equiptment a Strion will need on their first adventure. For months before an adventure begins, elder Strions pack and prepare these packs to be given out to the young Strions at the ceremony beginning their adventure and choosing their Journeywalker in order to make them more prepared for the journey ahead of them.

Appearance

While on the outside, a travel pack may look just like any adventurers bag, they are in fact individually made in order to honour historical traditions. Before technology had advanced to where materials and products could be produced on a larger scale, items like bags were hand made by a skilled crafter. Because this the way the travel packs have always been made, they are continued to be made this way as it is believed that they bring luck to those who carry them.

Unique Memories

Each travel pack is individually made in a unique style, colour and design. This represents the Strion becoming an individual through their adventure, and entering the adult world. This also creates a unique memory for the owner of the travel pack, because they are the only Strion on the planet to own a pack like this and no one will ever have one like it in the future.

Burial Customs

Because the Travel Pack is unique to the individual, unlike with other memories (which are often passed down as family heirlooms) many Strions choose to be buried alongside their travel pack when they die. Because of this, travel packs are kept in good contdition and a rarely used after the adventure they were made for. Because they strongly represent a Strion's transition into adulthood and the gainign of their individuality, it can be very difficult if they become damaged or lost during a Strion's life.

Contents

Travel packs contain a number of things including emergency food, hunting knives, technology and clothing. Alongside this will also be blankets, bedding and parts of the groups shelter. They also contain a small journal and writing materials so that the Strion's can document their adventure and experiences.
Each travel pack has the exact same contents as any other to make sure that no Strion is at more of an advantage or disadvantage than another member of their Adventuring Party. This had previously been an issue because some Strionan families had aceess to more resources than others and so were able to supply their children with more equiptment for their adventure.
