Origins

An Adventurous People

Strions are an adventurous species with a strong natural curiosity. From the first days they were alive, they have strived to find out everything they can about the planet (and then the universe) on which they live. Because of this, they are naturally lead to adventure and the need to explore. They believe that Through exploration and discovery they can find the answers to all of their questions, no matter how long it takes.

Coming of Age

When Strions become adults, their first task in the grown up world is to go on an adventure of their own. However, they are not left completely alone. Every year, young Strions who have come of age are collected together to form an adventuring party usually comprised of around one hundred strions. A Journeywalker is selected to lead them and they are sent off into the unknown...

Purpose

Advancement

The primary goal of adventuring parties has always been advancement, whether it technological, scientific, or societal. Each party is given the task to discover something new about the planet or usniverse and bring back prrof of this discovery to their community. This is a task that most young Strions should find enjoyable, if not exciting, however the more things that have been discovered, the harder and harder it becomes to find somthing new to bring back and share. Becuase of this, the length of time spent on an adventure has significantly increased and can reach up to a year or more in some cases.

Friendship

A secondary goal is friendship and community. Strionan culture relies heavily on community, so by forcing a lare group of young Strions to spend time together, they naturally learn to live alongside eachother in, for the most part, peace. There are some occasions where this does not go to plan, adventuring parties have been known to descend into chaos and disorder, usually leading to their mission failing. However, this is not a common occurrence and more often than not, life long relationships are created in an adventuring party and sometimes even families.

Achievments

Adventuring parties have lead to some of Strions greatest achievements, including the ability to use electricity for power and discovering many new kinds of edible plants. Because of adventuring parties, Strionan culture has been able to advance significantly. Since the species first came into existance they have developed methods of power, communication and building techniques that have allowed them to establish themselves as a civilization on the planet Strion.

Memories

Adventuring parties and the adventures themselves are a key milestone in a Strion's life. They leave home for the first time, become responsible for themself, make desicions and make new friends. It is in fact the most memorable event in most Strion's lives. Adventures impact strions for the rest of their lives because during that time away from their family and community, they learn how to be themselves.
