The Silverhawks

Summary

The Silverhawks are a group of resistance fighters, fighting for the freedom of Ath'Rani Dwellers from corporate and government oppression. Originally starting as a squadron under the Ath'Rani Decentralized Defence Force (DDF), they rapidly grew in strength and influence thanks to their pragmatic and charismatic leader, the Falcon.

Early Beginnings

The Silverhawks were founded in 3391, when a ysoki pilot by the name of Francis Pierson was given his own squadron in recognition of his skill and bravery confronting a squadron of corporate mercenaries attempting to forcibly acquire the rights to a tribe's land. Due to the speed and precision with which he swooped down upon them, he was given the title of the Falcon.   With an official title, a fancy new vessel, and seven subordinates hand-picked from the neighboring tribes, Falcon and his Silverhawks embarked upon a campaign to defend the Dwellers and uphold peace between the tribes. However, despite their flashy titles and equipment, the Silverhawks were not permitted to achieve their full potential.   The DDF outlawed direct violent confrontation with outsiders (except for during foreign invasion) in 3380, after The Sebonov Retaliation. As such, their authority was severely limited, only being able to make arrests, and give out fines. However, despite all the arrests and fines the Silverhawks dished out, corporate, Theskon, and Elurian influence only grow.   This futility only served to make the Falcon more and more desperate, passing the point of no return when, in 3394, he was ordered by the DDF not to retaliate against an Eternyl subsidiary named Protokron Biochemical Solutiosn LLC, for large-scale abduction and experimentation upon Ysoki children.

Departure from the DDF

After receiving stand-down order from the DDF, Falcon and his Silverhawks disavowed the DDF, referring to them as "cowardly shills." They knew what needed to be done. Tracking down the subsidiary at their local headquarters in Soton, they breached the building, dragged their board members outside, and executed them.   This caused a schism in the Silverhawks. While a majority of the members celebrated their vengeance, and felt immense relief that they were finally on a level playing field, two of them found the act appalling, but continued to obey the chain of command as they had already become accessories to their actions.   Between the years of 3395 and 3398, the Silverhawks went on an offensive that gained them both infamy and admiration. When the Millenium docked at a tribe's ports, their outsider troubles always seemed to vanish within a day or two. Aggressors and con-men would take sudden, unexplained leaves of absence, and were never seen again. Manned satellites and spaceports would come crashing down to the surface, streaking through the night sky like comets.   Over time, when DDF forces or corporate envoys would come to a commune, demanding to know where the Silverhawks were, many among them would say that they were a Silverhawk. They had become a symbol of defiance, showing the galaxy that a growing number of Dwellers weren't afraid to bare their teeth and defend what was theirs.

The Silverhawk Solution

By the year 3399, they had gained a few hundred loyal inductees willing to die for their cause, and tens of thousands of vocal supporters. It was around this time that an unknown figure approached Falcon, and informed him of the truth behind Egawa's apocalypse.   The Silverhawks were intrigued by the newfound knowledge. Aboard the Millenium, with all original members of the group, Falcon announced his plans to recover all five fragments of the mysterious relic known as the Entropy Core, and use it to usher in an age of true independence - or even galactic dominance - for the Dweller people.   Two of the original Silverhawks walked out on the group that day, unable to go along with such a plan. But it didn't matter - the group was bolstered by newfound conviction, their morale unshaken by the two's departure. By their hands, thirty-four-hundred would be the century of the rat.
