Sunji Itoh, the Tactitian

Summary

Sunji Itoh is an older Lashunta man, with long, white hair, clad in simple spacefarer's garb. Once a renowned admiral, his disgrace following The Sebonov Retaliation caused him to live in exile for over a decade, before returning to the Dwellers in hopes of making up for past mistakes. Eventually, he ended up as one of the founding members of The Silverhawks, and serves as Falcon's trusted advisor.

Personality

Sunji is a man imbued with the wisdom of age, but the fierceness of youth. No stranger to bloodshed, but weary of it, he has trained himself to analyze a situation to its fullest extent, sometimes thinking up to a decade ahead when making decisions. Sunji shares the same burning anger towards the Thesk as Francis Pierson, the Falcon, but is determined to not let it cloud his judgement.

Role in the Silverhawks

Sunji serves as the primary strategic advisor for the Silverhawks, responsible for outlining their strategic options, and suggesting courses of action. He also carries the role of coordinator, ensuring the numerous Silverhawk cells are acting in the best interests of the movement. He spends most of his in his private chambers, where he deliberates on their next move, and holds meetings with cell leaders.

Earliy Life

Sunji was a rising star in the DDF from the moment he was first initiated. Fast-tracked onto the admiral path due to his exemplary test scores, he spent five years in the strategic command academy, starting in 3355. Once graduated, he was put in charge of overseeing defensive operations on Sebonov.   After fifteen years at the helm of the Sebonov defense fleet, Sunji had become depressed, feeling he was unable to achieve his fullest potential watching a border that had never once seen any conflict. So, when a meeting was held to decide who would venture into the nebula to claim their half from the Thesk, Sunji volunteered.   Sunji spent five years preparing for the offensive, coming up with all sorts of plans for how to obliterate the enemy forces. Time and time again, people would question his decision-making, asking why he was putting so much thought into his battle-plan when the goal was to capture the territory peacefully. He told them it was "just in case," but deep down he hoped it would be a fight.   Sure enough, a fight is what he got. Upon arriving at the Theskan Spice Engine, negotiations quickly devolved from their initial plan to swiftly demand their relocation. After what essentially became a shouting match over the comms, a shot was fired, and a brutal battle ensued. The end result was the complete destruction of the TSE, and roughly half of both sides vessels as casualties.   Returning home, he was scolded and forced to relocate to the Tetryke system. Sunji was furious, stating he had "done his best," and that they "knew the risks going in." Sunji remained in Tetryke until 3380, until he witnessed the news reports about what was happening in Sebonov.   Realizing the horror of what he had caused, Sunji fled. Travelling from system to system, he lived for many years as a wandering nomad, coming to terms with what had happened, and trying to figure out how he could possibly atone. Eventually, in he ended up on the planet of Theskon IV, where he pulled some strings to arrange a visit to the Throne of Order.   There, he was told of his fate, and the fate of his people. Unflinchingly, he accepted it, and made preparations to return to the Dwellers. Changing his identity, he signed up with the DDF once again in 3385, graduating as a fully-fledged member in 3390.
