Jahar, the Engineer

Summary

Jahar is a Ysoki, and the head engineer of The Silverhawks. Skilled in all things mechanical, as well as a demolitions expert, Jahar has a wide variety of tools in his toolbox, and is relied upon by the group for creative methods to solve their problems.

Personality

Jahar is arrogant, stubborn, and obssessed with proving his mastery of his craft. An incessant perfectionist, he is constantly looking for ways to improve upon his existing designs. Outside of his work, he is excessively competitive, always trying to one-up his peers. Despite this, those who know him say he is the most dependable person they have ever met, always up to whatever task you throw at them, and never willing to back down.

Role in the Silverhawks

Jahar is the primary technician for the Silverhawks, responsible for the upgrading and maintenance of their vessels, armaments, and other equipment. He is also relied upon to build unique devices to solve their problems, from explosives to drones of all makes and purpose.

History

Jahar was born in a Tetryke commune in 3377. Always ahead of the curve, he started learning electrical engineering by the age of five, and outpaced his mentor by the age of fifteen. Unusually gifted in the ways of engineering, he devised his own propulsion systems, weapons, and even bio-augments before he hit adulthood.   As soon as word got out, the prodigious rodent was approached by Orion and a dozen other firms, all offering ludicrous salaries. However, Jahar wasn't satisfied. He knew the end result would be him sitting behind a desk, unable to see the impact his work had. He wanted to not only create, but to apply his creations with his own two hands.   Signing up for the DDF in 3385 as a combat engineer, he went through training and graduated as a fully fledged member in 3390. Despite the far lower salary, and hazardous working conditions, he loved the job and became addicted to the thrill of unleasing his creations upon those who sought to do harm, perhaps too much for his own good (and the good of others).   After a year of spontaneous solo missions - that were more experiments for his creations than anything - Jahar had built up quite the reputation as a talented but reckless operator. Unfortunately, his arrogance would catch up with him at the start of 3391, when one of his prototype battle-drones went haywire and injured five civilians during a mission.   Upon having many of his awards and privileges stripped, and enduring a brutal scolding from his higher ups, he was informed he could continue to serve as an agent of the DDF on one condition: he was kept in check by a squadron who would hold him accountable. Jahar agreed, on one condition: he got to chose the squad.   Eventually, Jahar caught wind of the Silverhawk's existence, and requested he be put on their team. After a brief conversation with Falcon, it was agreed he would fill the final slot of the squad.
