Brigand Character in Star Wars: Shards | World Anvil

Brigand

Captain Lucas Malde

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Either "Lucas Malde" is a created identity that did not exist before the Black Hats registered themselves as an official "convoy collective" with BoSS for starship transponder purposes in the last year of the Clone Wars, or else a network of the best data slicers in the Galaxy seamlessly extracted every record of Lucas Malde's life prior to this pirate gang debut.
He predates Edward Teach. Legend has it that Brigand had some connection to Teach's early days as a marauder.
Other rumors suggest that Brigand came to the Tapani Sector with the silent backing of the Corporate Sector Authority, looking for ways to crack the bacta monopoly open. That he supposedly blazed a trail behind him for Teach to follow -- at which point they may have jointly targeted Nova Orion Industries assets until their backers could swoop in for a shareholder takeover.
What is sure is that the Black Hats have operated in the Sector for three decades. Member roster, reputation, alliances, territorial boundaries, even the headquarters location have changed many times -- yet Brigand remains the uncatchable, indisputable leader of the gang.
