Venari

Venari is a hostile death world, that has the trouble of being incredibly resource rich. The planet is infested with a sub-intelligent hive mind insectoid species known as the Syktia. While not entirely sapient, they are incredibly hostile and organized into local clusters. 
With no system gate, it is a hotly contested system with no one faction truly being able to claim a stake. Instead, private prospector companies duke it out planetside, establishing mining outposts on the planet for only months at a time at most. Occupation of the planet is, at best, contested. Political entities make efforts not to inflame the area, as any kind of military occupation of Venari would be extremely costly to whoever wants to fully occupy the system.
