Kopal

The most populated planet in the Arcadia system, Kopal is technically under martial law by the Arcadian Commonwealth. However, most of their forces have been routed to the system gate in orbit, with only a handful of fortified planetary spaceports under their control. The vast majority of the planet stays away from these spaceports. The vast majority of the population live in remote and distant villages and towns, existing mostly as matriarchal clans and tribes. The exploitation of the resources on their planet, and the interference by the Musura Federation evoked a response from the clans, and they soon found themselves in a troubled alliance with the Ungratefuls. Most of the Clans and Tribes are strictly Seerist fundamentalists, who were cut off from the greater structure during the Silence. The rural based insurgency has proved incredibly difficult to manage. The Musurans and the Commonwealth control the Interstellar Gate, which maintains a loose orbit around Kopal and cannot be moved. However, proliferation of surface-to-orbit weapons, both large and small (like the infamous GOMP Launcher ) have made any kind of occupation of Kopal extremely costly and dangerous.
