al-Sani Family

The Al-Sani family is a middle-class Ocarran family that lives on the planet Ocarro. The family was a ranching family in the agricultural township of Tel Kidi where they have their family homestead.

Nabil, the family patriarch, still lives on the al-Sani Homestead with his youngest son Emir and granddaughter Yusra. His elder son, Asmun, also grew up on the family homestead but moved away to Cantaro where he raised his four children Khadija, Ari, Jihara, and Safiya.

Family History

The al-Sani family is a well-established pastoral ranching family in Tel Kidi and its surrounding area. They mostly raised Crocela and had a household garden, occasionally raising Feathered Lizards or growing agricultural crops in fields. The family has many family ties, mostly cousins and matrilineal ties, in Tel Kidi and in surrounding towns and villages. Many of the family's in-laws (ie. the people who married into the family) are also from the area.

Historically, like most Ocarrans, the al-Sani family was nomadic pastoralists and occasional hunter-gatherers who had a set migration route moving up and down the mountains with their herds. Over time as Ocarran’s became more sedentary the al-Sani’s settled down and started to build their homestead.

It is only recently that the family started to move away from Tel Kidi and pastoralism with the eldest son of Nabil al-Sani, Asmun, moving away from Tel Kidi and starting a business. Most of the family stayed in the pastoralism or agricultural careers common in rural areas and stayed in the area and towns near Tel Kidi.
