Wildford

Wildford is the smaller of Dercrest Island's two towns, located on the island's southeastern coast. This port town acts as a border between Dogrovia and Fanatheas, but it is only loosely so. Similar to Thornfone, Wildford's economy is largely maritime, and within the Old District there is a small market. There are no formal shops, only a variety of stalls thrown together around the edge of the town square.
Wildford's buildings are generally small, single-storey wooden constructions, each one a homey-looking cottage in appearance. The people here have the same friendly demeanour as those in Thornfone.
Wildford's most famous inn is the Emerald Spade, located in the Brightsheath district, surrounded by narrow alleys and other comfortable-looking inns. The street outside is lined with street vendors. The Emerald Spade stands out among the other nearby inns for being the only two-storey building in sight, with stone walls and a small fenced yard. Inside there are numerous well-made wooden tables and chairs. It is exceptionally clean, and well lit by an iron chandelier. Accommodations consist of decently-sized rooms (20x20ft) with wooden cots, as well as one large common room containing several hammocks. The owner of the tavern is a muscular Rhial man by the name of Trevor Wilbourne.
Wildford is patrolled regularly by a small number of town guards, especially around the town square and the harbour, where the greatest number of travellers is seen. The guards are dressed in plate mail, with a red plume protruding from the top of the helmet. Wildford is under the jurisdiction of Lord Maxwell Burgess, who resides in Thornfone. All guards report back to the Lord.
Wildford has three main roads. The West Road connects to the town of Thornfone. The Eastern Trail leads out to the eastern farms as well as to the old lighthouse. The Walk leads out into the southern countryside.
At the harbour, passage to Fanatheas via longship can be bought for 5 sp. The journey will take one day of travel (23 hours), and will take passengers to the mouth of the Nylmar River on the western coast of Fanatheas.
  Sidequests:
  1. A group of Wood-Elves and Rhial can be heard discussing rumours of ghosts haunting the nearby lighthouse. The discussion can be heard within the Emerald Spade, with the group seated at the bar looking shaken-up.
  2. A local farmer's chickens are being ruthlessly slaughtered each night by a pack of Wolves on the south side of town. This can be heard anywhere outdoors, with the local farmer talking to Wildford guards.
