Lord Maxwell Burgess

Lord Maxwell Burgess is a portly Rhial man with a thick, well-groomed moustache and slicked-back gray hair. He is dressed in fine clothes representative of his station, and wears a gold signet ring on his right pinky. Burgess' demeanour is generally rude, which is unusual for a resident of Dercrest Island.
Burgess resents being given lordship of Dercrest. He grew up in the much larger city of Bridhill, and had spent years licking boots in hopes of rising in political rank. He was never taken seriously by his peers and colleagues, and suspects he was given governance over the isolated island by Lady Winthrope as an underhanded promotion that would place him further from her home.
Burgess wants nothing more than to rise in rank and re-enter the larger Dogrovian society, leaving Dercrest in his past forever.
