Village-on-Shorewydd

The newly hatched World-Turtle Shorewydd was entrusted to the care of the Karnian Royal Family in ages past. He has swum freely off the shores of Karnes for centuries, growing from the size of a rowboat to the size of a small island. When he learned of the fall of the Royal House he personally ferried Prince Alric and Princess Fidelia into exile in Salissia , seeing them safely to their distant kin.   As the resistance against the Morin Regime became organized they needed a safe, secure base from which to operate and Shorewydd offered his services. The Village has grown and matched pace with Shorewydd's own rapid expansion, attracting refugees, mercenaries, former Karnian soldiers and tradespeople and farmers to provide for them all.   The Village is primarily a Resistance military base though it operates somewhat more loosely than a traditional encampment because of its natural security and the need to house dependents and support personnel for the long term. The village's major decisions are made by the triumvirate of Captain Rhyann, Mallus and Guildmaster Orin, between the three of them they oversee most military and strategic decision making. Due to the growing number of mundane issues affecting the island's swelling population an elected civilian council has been implemented to resolve smaller matters.   Shorewydd's ambient magic makes for thriving agricultural products but the limited surface area still entails a great deal of imports. When they draw near to a friendly port merchants and traders release medium size sailing vessels into the waters or carts onto the roadways, carrying fresh caught fish and trade goods.   Originally little more than a few barracks, an armory and a mess hall, Village-on-Shorewydd has finally grown into its name, now supporting hundreds of souls and a wide variety of industries and facilities, including a new contingent of Slab Barbarians.
