King Merifal (Salissia)
King Merifal of the Salissian Royal Family is perhaps one of the least Elf-like Elven kings one could imagine. He has a large, powerful frame thick with even parts muscle and fine meals and a more rounded face than most elves. His uproarious laughter is often disconcerting to new court officials and courtiers and he has deep laugh lines around his eyes and his cheeks, unusual for the generally reserved Elven sensibility.
These strange predilections are owed to a several decades long stint serving in Karnes as a young elf, learning the intricacies of combat and war by serving first in the Karnian Adventurer's Guild and then the Queensguard. He still has fond memories of this time in his life and is prone to long winded stories from this time.
He views the Karnian Royal Family as close family, treating Prince Alric and Princess Fidelia like his own niece and nephew, rather than the distant relatives they are. He has personally taken Alric under his wing, seeking to share with the young leader some of the same wisdom that his time in in Karnes imparted to him.
Despite his jocular and casual manor, Merifal is both a brilliant mind and a terrifying force on the battlefield. His years of training, first under Royal Salissian tutors and then under elite Karnian institutions, have given him a prodigious skill with magic, blade and tactics alike. He is revered as a legendary swordsman by his people, especially for his epic defeat of a Nebuchar general in single combat during a past invasion.
