Summer Camp 2023 Pledge

I, EBelt/Jacqueline Yang, pledge to do my absolute best in Summer Camp 2023, go for the Diamond Badge, encourage fellow World Anvilites, and have fun.

This is my first time doing Summer Camp and I am so excited for it. I am still a new world builder, but I am hoping to get a Diamond on my first year. I will attempt to not set super high expectations and just have fun.

Theme 1: Power

1. Myvera

• Kingdoms and governments — because it’s set in a time where there’s not a whole lot of stability this is going to be slightly harder to do, so I might think a little more along the lines what’s going to happen now that there’s a power vacuum and maybe the history of the kingdoms and governments
• The Prophets (religious group) — I’m thinking of redoing their hierarchy and trying to flesh out how this group works. Like what rituals do they have, do they serve one specific god, and just making changes

2. Verinar

• Religious groups — start thinking and creating actual religious groups and not just boring generic ones.
• Magic System — figuring out how the magic system works, the rules and limitations, how it manifests etc.

3. Draconis

• Magic System — same thing for the magic system in Verinar
• Characters — figuring out how the characters influence each other. Since character dynamics is important for the world/story, knowing who’s more important to who is important

Theme 2: Frontiers

1. Myvera

• Unknown World — there are several “mystical” worlds that appear in this world. So, I’ll start thinking about those worlds and how those worlds can change Myvera if the people ever found their way to those mystical worlds.

2.   Verinar

• Borders — how people interact on the borders of the kingdoms and how the impression and interaction of the people changes the farther into the kingdom someone goes

3.   Draconis

• Unknown World — the unknown world of Draconis is definitely something to flesh out, as well as how it changes someone for better or for worse. How people on earth would react if they knew this unknown world existed and could potentially take over the world if they could cross over.

Theme 3: Relics

1.   Myvera

• Ruins — Myvera is on the brink of collapse, but before it was going to completely fall apart there was a time of great prosperity, so I’ll start thinking about those ruins from better times

2.   Verinar

• Magic Items/Relics — Verinar does have magic so probably some old magic items or some items “dropped” by the gods. I’ll start thinking of what those relics do, how to get them, etc.
• Ruins — Verinar is the world after Myvera, so I was thinking that the ruins in Verinar would be old buildings and places of Myvera. Probably hints of a world about to die

3.   Draconis

• Ruins — Draconis has a long and complicated history filled with ruins and mysteries. But instead of just focusing on buildings and places like I’ll most likely do with Verinar/Myvera I think I’m gong to focus more on the ruins of geographical places like mountains that have fallen down or large lakes that used to be small streams, and what caused those geographical changes
• Magic Items/Relics — there is magic in Draconis, but I don’t know if there will be magical items/relics. I know that there are magical creatures, so I think I’ll start thinking about how to gain magical items from the creatures that have magic and less on the actual item.

Theme 4: Communications

1.   Myvera

• During this time communications were very limited and most of the time people were restricted to small towns. Because of tis I’ll start thinking about the before, during, and after effects of the communications. How people feel about talking to less people, how they react when someone new comes to town, etc.

2.   Verinar

• This time has much more communications but it is still a bit slow for the average person. Communications would be mainly done through mail and delivered usually by horse. Unless you were an important official and could afford to have a magic-user be the go-between.
• For magic users communication is easy, since there are ways to communicate through spells and rituals. So, I’ll start thinking about how thy communicate that way, and what would happen if a magic user was unable to communicate that way.

3.   Draconis

• The humans of Draconis communicate through mail and usually by horseback, unless a Draconic is willing to deliver the letter, which is doubtful. So communication between humans is slow, but still most people prefer to stay in their own home/village/town/kingdom for safety reasons.
• Draconics are able to communicate much faster through various ways, whether it be through magic, or being able to fly. But for Summer Camp I’ll be thinking of specific ways they can communicate and how often the Draconics communicate with each other and the humans.
