Seven Star

Seven Star is one of the four major Human powers based out of the Sol Sector. Founded by Trillionaire Pressely Plieades and his company (for which this faction is named) during humanity's initial migration into space, this group has since grown into a multi-planet society and major sector power. Seven Star is the second largest human faction, an economic powerhouse, and notorious for its business-first attitude. Despite being at peace for decades, they are still regarded as defensively militant in their diplomatic dealings.

Government and Policy

Seven Star is led by the descendants of its founder: Pressely Pleiades. The current head of the family is the head of the entire faction, with planetary and reigonal leadership delegated to their family members and those whom they are closest with. While each leader may have their own advisors and appear to operate with the support of a council, their word is law and this is no secret to anyone. When the head of the family passes away or passes on their title to another, it causes waves of changes as each individual that ranked below them finds themself either promoted or replaced at the whim of whoever has taken the helm. Many Seven Star Citizens are unbothered by the political turmoil, as it rarely results in grand changes in their day-to-day lives (as most of the high-ranking politicians in Seven Star achieve this status by agreeing with each other). Nepotism and bribery are blatant and obvious aspects of Seven Star's political structure, and generally regarded as normal by those who have lived their whole lives under its flag.   Policies can vary between Seven Star systems, but the following generally apply:
  • Companies can develop their own laws and methods of enforcing those laws among their employees
  • It is legal for companies and organizations to develop and make use of their own company currencies
  • Higher education is typically funded by future employers
  • Media may not portray governmental bodies and leaders in a negative light
  • Individuals have the freedom to create and sell their own goods and services with little oversight, with this lack of regulation extending to larger companies as well
  • Gaining or revoking citizenship is difficult and costs significantly in fees and time
  •

    Law Enforcement

In Seven Star, there are 2 types of law enforcement agencies: 7S Federal Police and Company-specific Enforcers.   7S Federal Police: The national police force of Seven Star. They are responsible for matters of planetary law and report directly to the governmental leaders of their particular planet and settlement.   Punishments ordered by the Federal police are generally monetary fines or mandated public labor. The higher fines can often lead to the accused having to enter debt bondage, which is not always the 'socially useful' work that directly ordered service typically consists of.   Company Enforcers: Enforcers of company law, these agents are hired by companies to enforce company laws. They are not authorized to interfere in matters of faction law, but can report lawbreakers to the federal police and hold suspects in custody in such matters.   Company Enforcers find they have more freedom in dealing out punishments than the Federal Police, so the punishments given to comany rule-breakers are more varied and often more cruel than that of the federal Police. Lowering wages, corporal punishment, and even in rare cases capital punishment are among those used by enforcers.   Depending on the planet and the company, the Federal Police and Company Enforcers might act as partners and coworkers or act is rivals and enemies to each other's goals. While the Federal police is often seen as more official and higher ranking than the enforcers, the enforcers generally have more freedom in the way that they act and enforce their rules, as they are not beholden to the same regulations.   Seven Star Planets do not make use of prisons as punishment.

    Demographics

The population of Seven Star is majority human, with some small populations of Chi'Suut and Terrkarakki having joined formally in the years since humanity joined the Interplanetary Alliance. A majority of the immigrant Krakki moved into the sector due to flourishing business relations between Seven Star and the Karhakkhas' Queendom as exemplified by the success and prosperity of their joint venture: Aster-Rip Co. While much of the Seven Star population tends toward human-centric ideals, this alliance with the Krakki has been welcomed with unusually open arms due to several distinct cultural overlaps concerning attitudes towards success, power, fame, and money.   The human population of Seven Star is ethnically mixed, with most citizens belonging to no one specific identity.

    Culture

While the common perception of Seven Star among the other human factions focuses on the materialistic, nepotistic, and capitalistic elements of their government and institutions, it would be doing the common people of the Seven Star systems an injustice to reduce them to the ideals of their leaders. The common people are separated from their elite not only by socioeconomic status, but by their general visibility to the outside world. With so many eccentric celebrities and leaders catching the attention of the other factions, most outsiders never get an honest look at the average life of a Seven Star citizen. The people of Seven Star are far more community-minded than one would assume; valuing and guarding the bonds they forge with those they live and work with.   The people of Seven Star can be identified as belonging to one of the following castes:
  • Labor
  • The Labor Caste is the lowest caste, consisting of those locked in debts to their employers, the unemployed, and anyone working a low-paying physical job. Life is typically unfair and difficult for those caught in this caste.
  • Citizen
  • The Citizen Caste consists of those who might be considered lower-middle class. People with decent office jobs or who somehow lack debt fall into this category. While being far below the executive caste, most people in this category would describe their life as comfortable.
  • Executive
  • Only the top members of society fall into this caste. Members of the Pleiades family, billionaire executives, celebrities, and those favored by the previous are the sole members of this category.   While it is relatively achievable for people to move between the Citizen and Labor castes based on their own merits, work, or misfortunes: achieving executive status is generally only achieved by personal connections or incredible lightning-in-a-bottle luck.   Values that those of Seven Star would say are prominent in their culture are:
  • Brotherhood
  • Reliability
  • Loyalty
  • Respect for Authority
  • Self Determination
  • Work Ethic
  • Optimism
  •

    The Great Man

Seven Star's founder, Pressely Pleiades, has had a powerful impact on the culture of the faction. Since his passing generations ago Pleiades has transformed from the group's eccentric CEO to a larger than life figure. Phrases like "By the Pleiades" or "In Pressely's name" have integrated themselves into the Seven Star lexicon as the story of the faction's founding has crossed from pure history to mythology. While members of the major religions of the galaxy would not consider Seven Star's attitude towards the Pleiades family to be a real religion, the practices and beliefs of the people often mirror those of the faithful. It's not uncommon for the average citizen to have an icon or statuette of the founder in their private residence or workplace to inspire themselves to work hard, and talking poorly of the Pleiades family is generally frowned upon, as Pressely's descendants have managed to acquire some of his god-king status.

    History

Back on Earth before humans reached their space age, Seven Star was the name of a multinational technology company owned by the eccentric trillionaire Pressely Pleiades. While Seven Star was one of the organizations that strongly contributed to the decline of Earth's stable ecosystem, the company shifted gears to aid the planetary effort in restoring that ecosystem when it became more profitable to do so than to fight it. With a hand in the creation of atmospheric adjustment technology and alternative forms of transportation, the good will the company gained from aiding the planet was spent in one of humanity's first successful space colony recruitment efforts.   Pleiades, who was not a fan of the new regulations and world order shaping up on Earth, gathered his wealth, his family, his closest friends, and as many environmentally displaced and willing people he could pay to join his fleet and set off for new frontiers in space. The trip was not easy or without flaws, but resulted in the first successful planetary colony founded by humans officially in the system Tau Ceti (Later Renamed to the Leviathan system) on the planet Perseus (formerly Tau Ceti f). Since then, Seven Star has expanded its reach to several more star systems and dozens more planets, claiming its status as the second largest human faction by population.

Once engaged in a holy war over Seven Star's idolatry of Pressely Pleiades and competing desires for the same planet, these two factions have been at peace since the Simultists began their pacifist agenda.

    Uneasy Terms

Seven Star has declared its intention to not rely on the aid of the KTF, seeking to make profit off of a similar market in their own sector.

    Tense Alliance

ESRA Leadership notoriously dislikes those of Seven Star, even if the animosity isn't mutual.
