The Earthen Authority

The Earthen Authority is the largest Human faction. Based out of the Sol Sector, it contains the human homeworld Earth along with a wide variety of planetary colonies that were settled after the initial wave of human space-immigration. Earth is considered the capital planet of the faction, with the others regarded as independent colonies that operate on their own but are beholden to certain policies and agreements. As the homeworld human faction, The Earthen Authority takes the most human-focused stances among its sister factions. While not against dealings with other species, they consider the welfare of the human species one of their main priorities.

Government and Policy

The Earthen Authority allows significant independence among its planetary colonies. Each planet is able to govern itself, but is expected to follow certain trade rules set by the United Planets Council. The United Planets Council is made up of delegates from each member planet and has power over interplanetary matters, trade routes, and general foreign policy. Earthen Authority citizens often view the council as slow and out of touch with the affairs of all the planets, but the degree of independence that colonies are allowed prevent most serious push back. In more recent years, however, the Council has had more power than usual due to increased contact with the other civilizations and factions. Not every planet is happy with how the council is going about this new galactic community: trending towards careful, minimal steps forward.

Law Enforcement

Laws and law enforcement vary widely between the planets of the Earthen Authority. Each planets has it's own distinct laws and identity, so it would be impossible to summarize them all here. When available, articles on specific colonies can go into more detail.

Demographics

The Earthen Authority is majority Human, with Chi'Suut individuals only rarely joining specific planets. All ethnicities and varieties of human are found within the Earthen Authority, but in more homogeneous groups than their sister factions.

Culture

Earthen Authority planets differ from those of the other human factions in one major regard: many of the planets settled by this faction were settled by one or two of Earth's native cultures or countries. These planets have stronger, historical cultural identities in comparison to very mixed populations like those found in Seven Star. Due to this, it's far more common for planets to have a stronger ethnic identity similar to what they might have had back in the original Earth countries. For example, a planet settled due to efforts of the Earth Country India would likely still maintain a high population of humans of Indian descent. In other cases, multiple cultures may come together to create a blended colony planet. Colonies most similar to their cousins ESRA and The Simultist Sect do also exist within the authority: planets settled by people not of common descent, but of a common goal. These planets tends to have a more mixed ethnic identity, but a far more unified cultural drive. An example of this type of colony would be a planet settled by vegans with the goal of creating a meat-free society.

History

The Earthen Authority was founded in its current form after the initial wave of space travel that formed ESRA, Seven Star, and the Simultist Sect. Made with the intention of keeping the human race unified under a common banner, the authority did attempt to bring the other human factions under its banner before eventually having to give up and pursue their own terraformation goals. This faction has since focused most of its space-based efforts on locating, claiming, and terraforming suitable planets for humans to live on.
