General Summary

During a routine patrol as part of Operation EDDA, the Navigators on board the Kuat of Kuat picked up an unusual set of wrap signatures of shallow jumps that led in the direction of a system that had not yet been visited since Operation EDDA had begun. The ships Captain, recognised these as the hallmarks of a T'au Fleet and informed Brevet Major Friedrich Hobart of the discovery.   The 9th Reconnaissance Battalion was then redirected to the system which the trail of jumps led to and prepared for combat.   When in system, the Tau fleets location was detected and the 9th Recon was deployed planetside to the ruined archive world of Mimir. They found a Tau expeditionary force progressing through ruins, stopped at certain points where vaults and archives still could remain and would search for anything they could find to aid their conquest.   9th Recon engaged the enemy whilst trying to clear locations that Tech-priest cogitator banks in the orbiting fleet suggested as locations of interest to the Tau. Soon the Battalion took casualties and losses of material like never before and it was quickly apparent that Commander Wildfire of the Tau was once again active within the Sleipner Sector.   Despite heavy losses, the Battalion was victorious and drove the Tau off the planet. Unfortunately, due to the high attrition suffered at the hands of the advanced Xenos weaponry, the Battlegroup Tanto was unable to give pursuit as it engaged in rescue and recovery operations

IMPERIAL FORCES   For the 9th Recon, casualties were high and the infirmary decks on Kuat of Kuat were fuller than they have been all deployment. An entire squad that had been newly attached to the battalion had to be replenished with fresh troopers, right out of Novo Sanctus. The Salvors of the 44th Mickini's World Salvage Corps Regiment were also exceptionally busy returning the damaged hulls of Leman Russ 671 and Chimera 4C9 back to the landing zone. If it wasnt for the ingenuity of the salvors, 671 would definately not be functional, however it is and, with a view to allowing the tank crew to get their revenge, the turret was rebored and now packs a deadlier punch and some augurs and sighting equipment found amongst the planet's archives was attached to the cupola so the gunner can identify enemy commanders more easily for targeting.   All units participating in the engagement received +2XP, with Squad 609 recieving an additional +2XP after being marked for greatness. They have also received the Ribbon Intrinsic in recognition of this;   Zulu Squad receives the Badge of Valour:Sleipner for their participation in Operation EDDA   Bravo Squad and Leman Russ 671 both received an additional +1XP for destroying vehicle units, as per their chosen agendas. In addition, for having fought in the Emperors name for so long, Bravo squad have also been awarded the Order of the Storm   Finally, as the Imperial force began the slow examination of the battlefield for signs of hidden archives and vaults that remained untouched from when Waaagh! Grimskul swept through the sector, one such vault was found. After opening it an artificer bolt pistol was located- Lex Talionis - and given to Brevet Major Hobart in recognition of his victory.     TAU FORCES The new T'au force, understandably, gained no advancements but did gain plenty of experience, which will stand them in good stead for future battles
