Government

The Reikan Government is a Social Democratic Technocracy. A president is elected every 10 years, who annually selects from a pool of elected individuals to form their cabinet of advisors. This process ensures that the will of the Reikan people is taken into account for the entire duration of a president's term. The President, and their cabinet, is responsible for maintaining the well-being of the people, overseeing the distribution of goods, and the division of wealth across the country to all people. The individuals not chosen for the cabinet tend to take places as local officials, such as Mayors, Governors, Judges, and the like.

Neighbors and politics

Reikor's borders come into contact with Elenwae, Bollgo and Skarria.
Reikor maintains a delicate balance of alliances with all of the other realms, mostly by leveraging the political stances of the other realms and its influence over the scholars, diplomats, and craftsman that rely on Reikan higher learning establishments.

Economy

Reikor has many Academies, Universities, and Crafts-guilds that are its primary source of economy. They leverage this influx of brilliant minds to obtain trading deals with their parent realms, and then supply other realms with goods they would otherwise be unable to obtain.

Knowledge however, is not the only source of profit. Reikor has developed a strong foundation of Bounty Hunters and mercenaries. They bring in tremendous amounts of slaves and prisoners from the other realms, leading to Reikor's large population of Dragonborn.
Reikor also develops advanced technologies through hunting, harvesting, and researching dragons. This has led to the discovery of Dracotech, or Magitech, but despite the long time Reikor has known of these technologies they are still in a fairly infantile stage and are a very closely guarded secret by the government. The technologies are used for the protection and advancement of Reikor and Reikor alone.

Demographics

As the place of origin of the Suungkin ancestors of the diversified Small Folk you see across the continent today. The majority (52%) of Reikor's population consists of the small folk. Gnomes consist of about 60% of that count, Hobbits count for 28% and Mountain Dwarves the remaining 12%. There is a small population of Dragonborn that exceeds any other nation. There are even rumors of Mutant creatures that can be found inhabiting the Reikor countryside and even its city streets.

Religions

Filled with brilliant minds, religion is not as widespread in Reikor as with the other realms. While religious beliefs do exist in about one third of Reikor, many have turned to science and technology to give them answers and hope they need. The two primary beliefs are in The god of Life, Algar, and the God of Light Luma. Reikor is also home of the Hallowed temple Firstholden, Temple of Life and Land   a famous place of worship for the followers of Algar and Groc

History

Reikor was first acknowledged as one of the realms in year 804 after a quick armed conflict against the realm of Bollgo, mockingly referred to as The Squat War. The neutral territories known as the South Lands banded together to prevent themselves from being taken by Bollgo. The democratic process would be quickly developed, and begin to go into action leading to an armed conflict lasting 3 months before Bollgo was pressured into conceding with Reikor being named as a realm 8 months later. Reikor would go through several (mostly) peaceful land disputes and negotiations with all three of its neighbors over time.

Technological Level

Reikor is the most advanced of the realms of Driktsuung. So much so that it has largely used its advanced education infrastructure as a negotiation tactic by offering a neutral stance on who it allows within its borders to learn at the many academies and universities across it's territory. Reikor alone has begun delving into the sciences of Magitech and Draconology, using Draconic materials to create advanced forms of tools, and utilities. Khonaburg, the capitol city has even begun the use of electricity in the higher status areas of the city such as the presidential palace.

Trade & Transport

Bollgo is the primary trade partner of Reikor, though Skarria is not far behind. Bollgo has been trading large amounts of precious metals such as copper, gold, and Silver in return for the education of Dwarven engineers, who pioneer great mining machines, and alchemists who have adapted advanced ways to process and clean gemstones efficiently.
Reikor's trade with Skarria is almost exclusively people. Skarria uses Reikor's technology, and experts to help maintain its markets. In return Skarria helps provide travel infrastructure, and is the most consistent source of labor with the selling of Dragonborn, and other slaves to Reikor. More people travel between Skarria and Reikor than the travelers between all of the other realms combined.

Education

Reikor is home to hundreds of academies, some of which are advanced beyond that of the academies within Skarria and Telmath. Even more advanced are the 14 Universities of Reikor, which employ some of the most brilliant minds within the continent to lead the most cutting edge studies across the intellectual fields. People from across Driktsuung travel to learn at these educational facilities, which has led to Reikor being able to maintain neutrality in times of war, as well as giving it an extremely diverse population compared to the other realms.
The level of education of the general populace varies by region, but on average the residents of Reikor would be considered well educated by the general populace of the other realms. The percentage of Reikans who are unable to read or write is under 3%, and over 60% of the population can speak more than two languages.

The three primary imports that Reikor brings in are scholars, Dragonborn, and draconic materials. It gains the first two mostly through immigration, although Reikor is known to purchase Dragonborn slaves from traveling slavers, as well as directly from the governments of the other realms. Reikor obtains its draconic materials from dragon hunters, and by using its first import scholars, as a bargaining chip to other realms.
Reikor has also started to increase its trade agreements with Bollgo to import more and more precious metals over the last 5 years.
