Skyfire Physical / Metaphysical Law in Shireon | World Anvil

Skyfire

Nothing is quite like the nights when the Skyfire flare above the sky of Inmalenor, lighting up the world below, dancing across the night sky in its multicolor beauty. It surely is a wonder of the Goddess.

Heiva, Inmali shaman

Some nights in the northern parts of Shireon the sky flares up in colorful dancing light. This is the Skyfire, a phenomenon most people consider divine. The lands of Inmalenor is known for this light, and most travelers from other nations are constantly watching the night sky hoping to get a glimpse of the magical dance.

Divine Significance

Most inhabitants of Inmalenor believe that the Skyfire is the dance of the Goddess Inmalia as She fights the two mythological Frost Wolves Cold and Loneliness. The long bands of color is Her dress moving as She dodges and strikes the two wolves in the fight. The more color and intensity the Skylight has, the more intense the fight is, and the closer to Shireon the fight is happening.

Localization

The Skyfire is clearer the further north you get, but can sometimes be seen faintly as far south as Lenthir. The most powerful ones can be seen faintly as far south as Vobranas, but Skyfire of this intensity are extremely rare.

It's in Inmalenor the phenomenon is most known, though. Although northern Enarion sees just as much of the Skyfire as the neighboring country, Inmalenor has the vast, open tundras where the lights are unobscured by things like trees.

Good Places to Watch the Skyfire

Although about everywhere in Inmalenor is a good place to watch the dance of the Skyfire across the sky, there is some places that are better than others.

Any area from Niskala and northwards: This far north the winter nights are long and dark, and if the Skylight is flaring over the sky when the weather is clear it's impossible to miss it.

That was an awesome article! I absolutely loved the description and the content below the divine significance part and the way you described it . Besides that I like the fact that it is short and straight to the point while being beautiful at the same time and that’s enough for a like. Keep up the good job!
