One thing is certain - the Game Emporium is a place where a lot of money changes owners. This does attract a few thieves from time to time. However, as an establishment with a huge cash flow generally tend to have, the Game Emporium has a rather impressive security team. Nobody have ever successfully robbed the Emporium.
It's rumored that the place is protected by Eluin's Shadow as well.
Private Rooms
One of the more exclusive features of the Game Emporium is that you can hire private rooms for less public games. Despite the rather ludicrous fee it's actually a popular feature. It sure brings in a significant part of the Emporium's income.
While it isn't advertised, it is rumored that these private rooms are used for less lawful activities. It has been suspected to both be a place where members of Eluin's Shadow hold some of their meetings, and a place where people can get and use illicit drugs. However, it must be some trick to the drug rooms as most people who come here with the intention to get a room for drug related reasons are turned away. This is not that kind of establishment, after all.
