A warrior, a mage, a noble soul, His journey, his legacy, a story to extol.

Physical Description

Special abilities

The ability to move instantaneously from one location to another without physically occupying the space in between. It can often be a form of spatial manipulation or quantum manipulation or magic. In some cases, it allows you to move not only in space but in time, between dimensions, parallel worlds, and metaphysical planes. It also includes all sorts of pseudo-teleportation.
Balkyth teleports by moving his SOUL-Clone to a location in space-time on a physical level. SOULs automatically return to their host bodies when summoned, but via his master of Science and Physics and as an EIght Arts Mage, Balkyth inverts this principle by imposing the Law of Inverse Operations to this attribute, so that his body snaps back to wherever his SOUL happens to be (to use this effectively as Balkyth does even in the heat of combat, one needs high cognitive functions and lighting fast reaction speed to move their SOUL and then their body). Balkyth does not need line-of-sight nor does he need to know where his SOUL is or where he is sending it. It could be Realms away and with this technique, it is moments away.
  • SOUL-Clone
The skill to manifest one's own SOUL into the physical space to aid them when in peril. SOUL-Clones are equal to the power of their Master, but if multiple SOUL-Clones are summoned, the total power is divided among them equally. SOUL-Clones can move through physical objects and change their density at will, but can only wield celestial treasures. The danger of using this technique is that if the clone is destroyed or taken, the summoner loses their actual SOUL. Sword Kings love to employ this technique despite the risk because they can impose their Sword Logic onto the very structure of the SOUL-Clone, creating a Perfected Sword Art, one without flaws. Additionally, SOUL-Clones can directly wound the souls of other beings. Soul Manipulation is the ability to interact with one's soul or the souls of others. This ability ranges from being able to project the power of one's soul outward, grasping and ripping the souls of others out of their bodies, and outright consuming souls to gain power, among other applications.

Balkyth's Sword Logic: Cosmic Harmonism

According to Cosmic Harmonism, the universe is akin to a vast orchestra, where each celestial body, from the smallest subatomic particle to the grandest galaxy, plays a unique note in the symphony of existence. Space is seen as the grand stage upon which this cosmic orchestra performs, while time is the rhythm and tempo that guides the progression of the symphony. In this philosophy, every individual being, whether human or celestial, is considered a sentient note in the universal composition. Each entity possesses its own frequency, vibration, or "cosmic tone." The interactions and alignments between these cosmic tones create a harmonious or dissonant resonance that shapes the unfolding of events and experiences within the cosmic symphony. This philosophy draws inspiration from various sources, including certain mystical traditions, quantum physics, and the concept of mindfulness.
  • The Logic of the Harmonious Blade: The Final Orchestra
Via meditation and understanding, one can come into unison with the cosmos, moving in step with the sway of the great tree YGGDRASIL. Once mastered, the wielder can employ Everywhereness, a form of cosmic awareness and instantiation that allows a being to exist in its entirety in multiple places at once.
  • The Logic of the Harmonious Blade: Symphony of Stars
Know the stars, study them, and understand them wholly. Symphony of Stars is a Technique of the Cosmic Harmonism Sword Logic that brings any constellation of stars into unison, moving together. Sword Kings of this Logic can use this harmony to their advantage to empower their Techniques and bodily functions to their penultima.
  • Throne World Technique: Everything Everywhere All At Once
This Throne World is an extension of the Cosmic Harmonism Sword Logic, when cast it forcibly scatters a sentient Consciousness into the very yoke of creation, into everything everywhere all at once. They experience the whole of creation and have their mind scattered throughout it. For all intents and purposes, it acts as a one-shot guaranteed hit to scatter the mind of an opponent, rendering them harmless. However, this Throne World requires a short ritual to cast and it does not work on beings who can guard their mind against mental attacks.

Specialized Equipment

The Blades of Sword King Balkyth of the Hunt

  1. God Shattering Star: An Ōdachi style sword forged by The Purple Mage so many ages ago, awarded to Prince Balkyth by the Académie de l'Arcane when he completed his magical studies there before starting his pilgrimage. The Celestial Prism Blade, God Shattering Star is a weapon of immense power and symbol of the Arcane LIneage, to wield it is to invite challenge itself.
  2. Engr, the Bronze Bull: One of the first successful swords ever forged by Prince Balkyth while he studied at the Académie de l'Arcane. It was a longsword, a style of weapon he would later come to favor, but was dingy and imperfect. Balkyth would maintain the blade and iterate on it serval times until it was capable of holding its own against Knights and Warriors. It earned its name the "Bronze Bull" for its color and stubbornness.
  3. Sword Arm Balkyth I: The 1st Sword Arm Lord Balkyth ever forged as a long sword with a regal design and flowing ribbons on its hilt. Unlike other Sword Arms, this weapon is closer in design to a Celestial Treasure and can only be wielded by Balkyth's Soul Clone or in Mental Mindscapes. However, when wielded, like all Sword Arms, it amplifies Balkyth's power.
  4. Dublar, Vowmaker: A ceremonial dagger gifted to people in the Oni culture, a gift from his Oni wife. It was the only gift she ever gave him during their marriage and he carried it on his person at all times. Among the Oni, promises are sacred and to make a promise without one's Vowmaker was seen as a taboo.
  5. Al-Spada & Sword Arm Balkyth II: The 2nd and 3rd Sword Arms created from Balkyth's immense power. They are both Niuweidao-style weapons, each also imbued with a Kiss from the Wind and Tears from the Stars. When used together, they could conjure powerful winds and devastating magical fire.
  6. Sword Arm Balkyth Regal: The final Sword Arm constructed by Lord Balkyth before his death, this longsword had a wide face and long blade, it could be wielded in both the physical and mental worlds and was sentient, capable of fighting on its own accord at Balkyth's command. Most notably, if damaged or destroyed, it could put itself back together, even when shattered and broken down into ashes. Each time it was reforged, it grew back stronger.
  7. Vendalail, Bane of Darkness: An Elven longsword Lord Balkyth forged in Alfheim with a blade from pure Light to be used against beings of Darkness. Despite it being made from raw Alfheim Light, dipped directly into the Well of Brilliance, Balkyth never used it. Vendalail was arguably his most powerful Sword but the charge on it was limited, and trips to Alfheim were few and far between.
  8. Sword Arm Balkyth Requiem: This legendary weapon could only be summoned if Sword Arm Balkyth I & II were combined with Sword Arm Balkyth Regal, birthing an elegant and ornate Zweihander that can cut through space and time, imbued with the very idea of Balkyth's Sword Logic. To even manifest it, one needs an intimate knowledge of Physics, Space & Time Constant-Variables, and Astronomy. This weapon manifested over half of Balkyth's full power and amplified him by a magnitude of thrice that when summoned. Requiem was unbreakable, it could be wielded by the body, mind, or SOUL, and was capable of wounding celestials.
  9. Realm Blade Skapariheimr (Creator + Land): Skapariheimr was a land under the rule of a Clan of Gods known as the Hierophant Gods. They were linked to the land and the land linked to them, to leave Skapariheimr was to surrender their power. They tried to circumvent this by turning Skapariheimr into a legendary sword, Realm Blade Skapariheimr (RBS), resulting in the death of one of the Ophidians, incurring the wrath of the Gilded Court. Balkyth was implemented in the crime as he laid the blueprints for the weapon but was ultimately found not guilty. RBS wields the power of the Hierophant Deities. It also possesses its own Throne World Technique, Land of the Creators, which can pull others into Skapariheimr to face the Hierophant Deities, subservient to whoever wields the weapon.
  10. Star Javelin Model Balkyth: This a sword-staff that is the embodiment of Balkyth's immense SOUL, a weapon he used with caution and reserve as its destruction would prevent him from entering the 50 Dead Worlds. With it, the full might of his power and potential can be brought to bear. It can also fully manifest his Sword Logic.
  11. The Last Verse of Balkyth's Death Song: Upon his death, Balkyth released the last verse in the Song which is his life, an ability he had as one who knew the Word ENDINGS and was not afraid of his own. This greatsword is a purely spiritual one, which can only be wielded by the SOUL. It was left at the place of his death and can only be taken by one who already knows the full Song of Balkyth. After they sing it, they may claim the sword. It provides negligible power amplification but contains the entire life and memories of Lord Balkyth, distilled into a sword, a relic, and a monument to his Sword Logic and life.

The Delta II

Lord Bālkyth's personal vessel was a Renegad-Class Starship named "The Delta II", a vessel received from the Reyes family's personal fleet. It was a small star-fighter military ship with a Jump Drive capable of traveling short distances, though Bālkyth typically traveled with his small fleet, led by his capital ship "The Alpha I", with crew and staff hired by the Reyes Intelligence Network to ensure loyalty and privacy on his travels. The Delta II was a 1-man vessel with an additional compartment for a Mechtronaut co-pilot.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Prince Bālkyth was the 1st born son and heir of Queen Veryian of House Reyes and her consort, the 5th Arcane Lord, Bālaia El Pwen. While Bālkyth was born the heir by birthright, he would later forfeit it to his younger brother Prince Bālir, who would end up M.I.A. in the Emerald Garden, leaving the throne to their youngest brother, Prince Ruairi Reyes DCCXLV, who unfortunately was cut down and reborn as a Khaos Daemon Lord. Ruairi the Demented was slain by Bālkyth who still refused to claim his title of Heir and appointed his sister Princess Charleigh instead. This matter was settled and the Prince was once again to live free as a vagabond until the new Heir arranged for him to marry Empress Rorkokis from the noble Adramélekh House to establish a new branch family and strengthen their alliance.

Education

Balkyth received a formal education in Philosophy, Literature, Arithmetic, Higher Reasoning, Science, and Technology along with the rest of his siblings from the most accomplished Skálds. After being trained in hand-to-hand combat by his grandfather and mastering archery and Magic under his mother Balaia, Balkyth embarked on a pilgrimage to master the blade and become recognized as King of Swords. His wandering led him to Sugawara no Michizane, the God of Learning, one of the greatest swordsmen to have ever lived. It was under Master Michizane that Balkyth came to develop his own Sword Logic and reached the peak of swordsmanship when he was forced to fight and kill his baby brother, Ruairi the Demented, corrupted by the influence of Khaos.

Personality Characteristics

Vices & Personality flaws

Balkyth was wed to Obelisk Queen Rorkokis for purely logical reasons and had a relationship devoid of love and passion. Rorkokis had her hidden lover, but Balkyth developed an unhealthy and lustful sin, a vision of vices made up of concubines and companions to share his bed with at night. This sin of his reflected poorly on the public perception of the Adramélekh Household and Queen Rorkokis herself. But it also had the predictable side-effect of producing a number of baseborn children, one of which was the infamous Billy the Hero, Beholder of the Word Legendary. This was a problem Balkyth's true heir and daughter, Bālgaroth Adramélekh, the 7th Arcne Lord, would have to contend with when a number of them returned to usurp her seat and claim the kingdom for themselves, led by a bastard named Busar.

Social

Reign

The Vagabond and Soaring Tongue

In the Depths of Desolation, Bālkyth delved into the abyss, his journey extending far and deep until he encountered his quarry, the Khaos Dragon known as Tengshe. These monstrous creatures would unleash Khaos upon the cosmos, unfurling Realm Tears that would overrun planets and systems with Khaos Daemons. Bālkyth had witnessed the charred remnants of countless worlds, where towering piles of corpses eclipsed the sun. He had vanquished many a Daemon Lord, their gluttonous feast on Mortal Souls finally put to an end.
Tengshe proved to be a formidable foe, for all Dragons, whether Khaos-infused or ancient, possessed immense power. Yet Tengshe knew better than to underestimate the Star Javelin. Bālkyth had faced and triumphed over several Dragons before her, and he would continue to do so after her demise. He wielded the Legendary Sword: God Shattering Star, capable of severing her life, should the opportunity present itself. But Tengshe refused to grant him that chance.
Thus, a war of attrition ensued. Tengshe merely needed to endure against the Wanderer, for in due time his magic would wane, his strength would falter, and he would perish. Alas, Tengshe failed to comprehend the unyielding resolve that fueled Bālkyth's holy mission. Tengshe's Realm was ensconced within multiple layers of defense, guarded by numerous servitors. Bālkyth trudged through acidic swamps and traversed oceans of molten fire. He clashed with hydras bearing hundreds of heads and Fire Drakes capable of liquefying worlds. He deciphered riddles posed by Sphinxes and outperformed the King of Games. Every challenge and trial that demanded conquest was dominated by the Star Javelin. He never relented, never slowed, never faltered—he pressed on relentlessly.
After a year and a half of arduous odyssey, Bālkyth finally confronted Tengshe, who eagerly awaited the chance to extinguish the living legend. They engaged in an epic confrontation that left both combatants equally wounded. Tengshe proved to be the most formidable adversary Bālkyth had ever faced, acknowledging that he not only lived up to the legend but surpassed it. However, before Bālkyth could deliver the fatal blow, Tengshe tore open a rift in space and time, retreating back to Dichónoia, the Lands of Kháos, unleashing hordes of Daemons to cover her escape.
By the time Bālkyth had painted rivers with Daemon blood, Tengshe had long vanished, her prey eluding capture. Yet Bālkyth found solace in the knowledge that she was at least expelled from Yggdrasil. With the Aesoteric Flame, he brought her Nest of Despair to ruin, the sword's blade cleaving through the remnants of her sanctuary. And thus, content in his accomplishment, Bālkyth departed.

Contacts & Relations

  • Marília Rodrigues Vasconcelos (Sister-In-Arms)
Marília was a Slave-Knight bound to guard the tomb of her slumbering lord for all of eternity, a punishment she alone could fulfill as she was of the Bloodline of Iscariot, beings cursed with immortality. However, she was liberated from this life when Balkyth and Roger woke the lord and slew him properly. Marília, now freed, traveled the cosmos to find her own reason for leading a life worth living. Roger and Balkyth are her closest friends and when Balkyth was made a Lord of Oalsafar, Marília was named Captain of his Royal Guard. She and her Knights accompanied Balkyth to the Realm of Tears and similarly met their end with their Lord.
  • Roger St. Clair (Brother-In-Arms)
Skáld Roger St. Clair of the Royal Household of Ōeyama
A product of the St. Clair family, Roger was a genius by all accounts and attended the Académie de l'Arcane with Balkyth, both graduating at the same time. Roger was a Master of Magic, having already become an Eight Arts Mage by the time he entered the academy, putting him far above his peers. He traveled with his best friend, embarking on many adventures together until Balkyth was made a Lord via his marriage to Empress Rorkokis. Roger was appointed the Master of Science on Balkyth's Household Staff and placed in charge of research and development. When his best friend died, Roger left his position as a Master of Science and became a Skáld, and the primary private educator for his best friend's regal children.
  • Hermeline Reyes (Cousin)
Queen Hermeline, Beholder of the Word Voyage is the daughter of Prince Walter, Balkyth's uncle, and his wife Consort Nidena, and the wife of Fox-King Reynard, Full of Tricks. She is very close with her cousin, closer to Balkyth than she is to her own siblings. They all were raised together as members of the Hunt and after Hermeline moved to the 5th Dimension to marry King Reynard, she was named Queen of Maleperduis but was rarely visited by her sisters Hazazel and Rhobyn, but Balkyth was a common sight. Perhaps it was because he was a wandering vagabond who, through some means or the other, often found himself stranded or lost somewhere, but she was glad to see him and put up with his antics. She was devastated by his death but was left with special instructions on how to find his son, Balthazar, and bring him to her Kingdom to protect. She charged her son, Reinardus, the Wolf of Redwood, with this task.
  • Kishiyota Haji (Sword Master)
Kishiyota Haji, aka Sugawara no Michizane, the God of Learning, is an old man, a veteran of the Great War in Heaven, and one of the greatest Swordsmen to have ever lived. After completing his studies at the Académie de l'Arcane, Prince Balkyth would seek Kishiyota out and train at his Kensei Dojo, their class was six students, and only three would graduate after the eight years of training, at which point Kishiyota claimed they have only just begun to understand their own Sword Logic. Kishiyota is not a man of subtleties and made no effort to hide the fact that Balkyth was not his favorite student but recognized his desire to be the best. Balkyth would often visit his master to further his Sword Logic, but these meetings were treated more like old friends catching up. Kishiyota is responsible for naming Balkyth's 1st born son, Harukañol, an honor reserved for one's Sword Master.
  • Elimisha "One Who Teaches Knowledge" Fodjour (Kinmate)
Elimisha of the Fodjour House was also trained by Master Kishiyota and graduated with Balkyth. She was Master's favorite and his best pupil in ages. Elimisha manifested her SOUL as a sword and wielded it with such skill and finesse she could best even Balkyth and press her Master. Her Sword Logic demanded absolute sacrifice in all avenues of life, to put everything on the line in pursuit of cutting everything and anything. Elimisha was extremely ambitious and competitive, which pushed Ballkyth to pursue and perfect his own Logic. Despite being Master's favorite, Elimisha got along well enough with her other Kinmates and counted Balkyth among the few friends she had in the cosmos. After a lifetime of adventures, Elimisha would settle down with a blacksmith and open up her own Kensei Dojo to train new Sword Kings as she was.
  • Jacqueline B. Skywalker (Kinmate / Ex-Lover)
Jacqueline is of the Skywalker dynasty, one of the Bloodlines of The House of Kings, descending from King David's 3rd wife, Queen Abbigal Skywalker. Jacqueline was the least impressive of Master Kishiyota's 3 graduating students, but the least impressive among Sword Kings is still a King of Swords. Jacqueline was a Hobgoblin, a Familiar native to the 5th Dimension who possessed immense Magical Energy reserves which she used to great effect to enhance her own Sword Skills, hence her being Master's least favorite. She wielded a short blunt sword and her Sword Logic declared that any item can be a sword. Function informs Forme, and if Jacqueline imposed her will upon the blunt stone so that its function was to cut, its forme would follow. Jacqueline has a Summoning Contract with Balkyth, should he ever have need of her blade, though he rarely made use of it on account of their previous romantic relationship.
  • Cayetana Rakuyama (Sister-By-Law)
Princess Cayetana Adramélekh is older than her sister but was forced to surrender the throne after her family's succession wars. Cayetana is one of the Admirals of the Oalsafar Navy and a King of Swords with her own developed Sword Logic. She and Lord Bālkyth are close friends who have worked together on serval campaigns during his marriage to Empress Rorkokis. Bālkyth was originally sent by his sister Charleigh to petition Princess Cayetana for her hand in marriage as a suitor but was chosen by Rorkokis instead, with Lady Cayetana taking the merchant Rakuyama Toni as her Lord Husband instead.

Balkyth's Harem

Lord Balkyth entertained a harem of women, though not as vast and expansive as rumors might lead others to believe. Balkyth had 8 women counted among his concubines but after the violation of Lady Keolakupaianaha, Balkyth had them moved to a separate location safe from prying eyes and peering ears. There were a number of secret and fortified keeps and bases scattered throughout the cosmos which were believed to house his harem and their kin, and many would come under fire from Khaos fanatics, bounty hunters, or Marauders, but all they found was death and despair. There is much talk of the Reyes Household Knights who answered to the Prince, the Huntsman who traveled with their Lord, and the Adramélekh Royal Guard. But few knew of a secret Order of Knights, Balkyth's personal Order, the Purple Cloaks.
The Purple Cloaks garrisoned each and every single one of these shell keeps and delivered swift and merciless death unto any who would trespass. They were commanded by General Hawthorne Hayabusa, Balkyth's childhood best friend, and their Order took every precaution and measure to hide. But their greatest deception was the fact that Balkyth's harem was not at any of the shell keeps, each and every single one was empty by design. The actual harem was housed in Vanaheim, with permission from the ruling Witch Queens, of course. Hayabusa and his honor guard only answered to Balkyth and protected his harem.
While the Harem was safe from exterior threats, even after the death of Balkyth, ruin would ultimately come from within from Busar Iscariot, one of Balkyth's children by the concubines who would harbor ambitions for the throne of Ōeyama, and to challenge Princess Bālgaroth of House Adramélekh, the 7th Arcane Lord, and Balkyth's true heir. Busar would align with four of his other siblings and stage a violent coup that saw the deaths of 8 of the other bastards. Balkyth's oldest Bastard, Penarddun Mattick, did escape the carnage with the remainder of the harem and General Hawthrone's son, Cassian.

  • Halemano David (Triplet Son)
Mistress Keolakupaianaha, Concubine of the Bālkyth Harem
Keolakupaianaha was a concubine brought to the Oalsafar court with other beautiful women to entertain Lord Balkyth when he was home from his travels. She was of the Davidic Lineage, though not one of the named branches, taking the surname David instead. Keolakupaianaha was gat with three of Balkyth's children, Hokuaonani, Hoalohalani, and Halemano, all male triplets. While pregnant with them, however, mistress Keolakupaianaha would be taken from one of her transports by the Temple of Khaos to harvest the children in her womb. Balkyth hunted them down and laid Keolakupaianaha's mutilated corpse to rest in his family's graveyard. All that remained of his sons was a chimera abomination, some foul fusion of partially developed fetus and Khaos Daemons. His sons were dead and he laid this "thing" to rest as well.
Keolakupaianaha was one of the first concubines to ever become pregnant with Balkyth's children, but not the last, even after Lady Carmen Skyburner. However, Keolakupaianaha's death and the brutal fate of his unborn sons reminded Balkyth who he was, and what lineage he was born into. The Temple of Khaos is not the only party that will go to great lengths to secure the blood of an Arcane Lord. This event is the cause of his secrecy with Lady Carmen and the lengths he went through to hide any future concubines that were gat with his young. WHo these children are and what became of them is lost to the annals of history.

The Oni race of people originates from Urasaki, The Pit of Darkness and is a result of interbreeding between Nymphys and Spirits and Khaos Daemons, earning them scorn from Khaos Eaters and obsession from the Khaos fanatics. The Oni was led on a great pilgrimage from Urasaki during the Great War in Heaven and made a new home for themselves in the Empire now known as Ōeyama. One of the lesser Kingdoms of this Empire was the Oalsafar KIngdom ruled by House Adramélekh. Empress Rorkokis was set next to inherit her mother's empire and had planned on taking more Kingdoms for her House, hence her need to marry a strong consort, Prince Balkyth, the 6th Arcane Lord.
But Oni society and their views on love were different when compared to what Balkyth was accustomed to, her people valued the idea of marriage for logistical purposes over emotional. Rorkokis and Balkyth did not love each other but did not hate each other, their marriage was more of a function of their purposes rather than a passionate affair. Hence why the emotional lord would seek solitude among the chambers of concubines and companions.

History

The origins of the Oni people can be traced back to Urasaki, a place known as The Pit of Darkness, where a peculiar mingling of Nymphys, Spirits, and Khaos Daemons led to their unique existence. The Oni faced disdain from the Khaos Eaters and an intense fixation from the Khaos fanatics due to their mixed lineage. In the midst of the Great War in Heaven, the Oni embarked on a momentous pilgrimage from Urasaki, ultimately establishing a new homeland within the Empire that is now renowned as Ōeyama.

Within this Empire, the Oalsafar Kingdom, governed by House Adramélekh, held a subordinate position. Empress Rorkokis, poised to inherit her mother's expansive realm, harbored ambitions to expand her House's dominion, hence her pursuit of a marital alliance with a formidable consort, Prince Balkyth, the esteemed 6th Arcane Lord.
Yet, the Oni society diverged from Balkyth's customary beliefs about love and relationships. Whereas Balkyth was acquainted with notions of passion and romance, the Oni placed greater emphasis on the practical aspects of matrimony. The union between Rorkokis and Balkyth was not one founded on affection or antipathy, but rather a strategic alliance born out of necessity. Consequently, the emotion-laden lord sought solace and companionship in the chambers where concubines and companions resided, seeking respite from the detachment of their union.

Relationship Reasoning

Empress Rorkokis, as the heir of House Adramélekh in the Oalsafar Kingdom, desired to expand her House's dominion. To achieve this goal, she sought a marital alliance with a formidable consort who could strengthen her position. Prince Balkyth, the esteemed 6th Arcane Lord, was seen as a suitable candidate for this alliance. However, it is mentioned that the Oni society, to which Prince Balkyth belonged, had different beliefs and values regarding love and relationships. While Balkyth was familiar with concepts of passion and romance, the Oni placed greater importance on the practical aspects of matrimony. Therefore, the union between Rorkokis and Balkyth was not based on personal affection or antipathy but was rather a strategic alliance necessitated by their respective ambitions. It appears that the marriage was a means to consolidate power and secure their positions within their respective realms.
