History

The Dynasty of War
Princess Medeam Kwosheno was the first child of Emperor Lallo-Arthwydron and Empress Danbraramur to be born with the Path of Destruction Inherited Magical Technique. This birth IMT made her eligible to founding her own Gen within the House of Ryah to cultivate a strong bloodline of Mages with the Path of Destruction IMT unburdened by the influence of the rest of the lineage. Medeam Kwosheno was given resources and assets from the Imperial Crown but was expected to establish her Gen under her power so that it would not become weak and impotent with Imperial aid.   Medeam Kwosheno wanted to start her Gen on the planet Surn IXHR, a low-tech world that was not yet a part of the empire at e Princess sought to take the world by force and although she saw early success, she underestimated the opposition and disregarded her Imperial advisors, which resulted in the total annihilation of her forces. Medeam Kwosheno was captured by the Surnic government which attempted to ransom her back to the Imperial Crown. The Emperor refused the ransom and instead authorized Shogun Cunobectacus to take the planet and the entire Surn star system, bringing the entire sector of the galaxy into submission.   Medeam Kwosheno was humiliated by the war and her utter defeat, chastised by her Lady Mother for her recklessness and careless behavior. She would try again years later in an Imperial World already within the fold. This time, joined by Hellewlwyd, Laurholt, Melearwar, Blairiath, Igraideam, and Gahengwain, her imperial siblings who also bore the Path of Destruction IMT born after her. They would be joining her Gen as founders of Lesser Stripes. With her Gen growing, Medeam Kwosheno began a series of expansionist crusades for the empire, waging war and wielding diplomacy to boost her Gen's domain and enrich the empire. Her Gen created the Shaharazad Queendom, with her as the 1st Queen and Genlord of the dynasty.   Medeam Kwosheno would later purchase the Surn star system from the Imperial Throne and convert Surn IXHR into a Tomb World where the honored dead of her dynasty and queendom would come to be laid to rest.
The Terreanica Campaign IV
The Terreanica Empire was a rival empire, and the Five Paths Empire had waged extensive war on it thrice before. These three prior campaigns were led by Shogun Cunobectacus, the 1st Shogun of the Empire under authority from the emperor himself. Although a decisive victory was never obtained, throughout the three campaigns, the Terreanica suffered significantly more physical and troop losses than the Five Paths. The fourth and final Terreanica Campaign was led by Queen Medeam Kwosheno in an attempt to claim it all for the empire and expand her Queendom's influence and fame. However, this last campaign was not authorized by the Shogun who has final authority over the Shaharazad military, forcing Queen Medeam Kwosheno to only rely on volunteer forces and warriors who risked court marshall to aid her as well as the Kshatriya Varma, the elite warriors of her Lord Brother King Araredin.
The campaign ended in the Realm Rioppadolon, the capital of the Empire where Great Sage Emperor Myfþröd was felled by Queen Medeam Kwosheno in an epic battle. Medeam Kwosheno took the Emperor's son Lord Bölblanörtr as her King and carved up the Terreanica Empire into her domain and among her Gen siblings. When this victory was brought before the Imperial Throne, Queen Medeam Kwosheno convinced the Empress to grant her the title and position of Shogun of the Five Paths Empire and went a step further, making it a Hereditary Honor for her bloodline exclusively forevermore.

Territories

There are three kinds of territories within the Empire.
  1. Five Paths Empire (legally owns all territories of all Gens under its umbrella) (Ruled by the Emperor/Empress)
  2. Shaharazad Queendom (Five Paths Empire territories unique to the Queendom) (Ruled by the Queen)
  3. Medeid Dynasty (Queendom territories unique to the Dynasty) (Ruled by the Genlord)

Military

The military body unique to the Medeid Dynasty is commanded by the sitting Shaharazad Queen and is referred to as the Medeid Royal Army (MRA) composed of three bodies.
  • The Royal Knights of the Medeid Dynasty
  • The Royal Army
  • The Royal Armada
The MRA Royal Knights is composed of nobles from the Stripes within the Gen while the Army and Armada are sourced from the Queendom itself. The MRA is funded and maintained on the Dynasty's coin, not that of the Queendom.

Laws

The Laws of Succession
The Medeid Dynasty Succession Laws dictate that only legal heirs from a legal Stripe can be in the Line of Succession (LOS). A Legal Stripe is any Stripe recognized by the Dynasty as a legal entity. The Trueborn Heirs of the principal Stripe, the al-Medeam Stripe, are automatically entered into the LOS. Chosen Heirs of the al-Medeam Stripe can apply for entry to the LOS and if admitted, take priority second ONLY to al-Medeam Trueborn Heirs but above any other additions to the LOS.   Trueborn Heirs from any other Stripe within the Dynasty are automatically entered into the LOS behind the al-Medeam Trueborn and Chosen Heirs. Chosen Heirs from these Stripes also follow the Trueborns in the LOS similar to the al-Medeam heirs.   Demiheris, regardless of the Stripe from whence they descend, are always last in the LOS only after all other Trueborn and Chosen Heirs of all other Stripes are established. For a Demiheir to enter the LOS, they must be admitted in a few ways.
  1. The sitting Shaharazad Queen appoints them (Shaharazad Queen appointments into the LOS can be placed anywhere in the LOS, even above the principal Stripe Trueborn Heirs)
  2. The Harem Small Council admits to the LOS
  3. The Demiheir can request to apply, if the Harem Small Council approves the request to use, the Demiheir can formally apply to join the LOS but must gain 2/3 majority approval to join from all current members of the LOS.
Demiheirs can be removed from the LOS with 2/3 majority approval from current LOS members. Chosen Heirs can be removed in the same way but a legal case must be brought before the court and the heir in question needs to be found guilty, then and only then can a vote be held. Trueborn Heirs can only be removed from the LOS after a formal complaint has been brought before the Harem Small Council, the council must approve the complaint and then a case must be brought before the court, and if the ruling is guilty, the Trueborn Heir can be removed from the LOS.   An Heir can be removed from the LOS for violating Shaharazad, imperial, and/or dynastic laws. If removed, an Heir can rejoin the LOS in the same manner they originally joined but must first be evaluated by the Harem Small Council. The Ryah-Arthweid Dynasty reserves the right to also review the dynasty's LOS and make changes as they please in the form of Imperial Directives that cannot be disobeyed.   Regardless of the type of Heir, Female Heirs always take priority over male heirs, each according to their station and rank. So if the principal Stripe only has male Trueborn and Chosen Heirs, the next female Heir, regardless of her Stripe will be moved up ahead of them. The only exception to this rule is if a male was born with the Path of Destruction IMT, in which case they will immediately become the Heir Apparent, regardless of what kind of Heir they are.
The Shogun of the Empire of Five Paths
The Shogun of the Empire is a Hereditary Honor related to the Medeid Dynasty and is incredibly important to the dynasty. The Shogun of the Empire not only commands the entire military of the Queendom but also the militaries of all other sub-divisions of the entire Empire, answering only directly to the Emperor or Empress expressly. Orders from the Office of the Shogun take precedence over orders from any other person within the imperial military apparatus.
To be selected as the Shogun, the Council of Keepers begins the initial search, vetting process, and preparation. Any candidates must not be in the Line of Succession at all and have no political tires to the Dynasty or Queendom directly, as the Shogun needs to be loyal only to the Empire itself. The candidates are then put forward for review to the Imperial Diet, the legislative body of the Empire, where a selection is finally made via appointment. The final step is for the appointee to be confirmed by the sitting Emperor and Empress jointly.
The Harem Doctrine
The Medeid Dynasty allows a Stripekeeper their own harem under the legal framework of the dynastic laws. The offspring from a Stripekeeper's harem are considered legal Heirs. Other members of the Stripe may have their own harem but offspring from such harems are not legal heirs and thus not eligible for entry into the LOS but must still adhere to the Harem Doctrine.
  • (1) Paramour
  • (3) Consorts
  • (9) Concubines
Concubines come from minor noble families or persons of value within society. Demiheirs are normally not legitimized by the Small Council and only practically exist as a last resort in the event that the bloodline is wiped out or to be used in political marriages where wasting a Chosen or Trueborn Heir is not viable. But while not entered into the LOS, they still live a lavish and luxurious life on the dynasty's dime, and often have very devil-may-care attitudes towards life, the eptiome of a spoiled and entitled brat. Most Gens opt to limit the amount of Concubines a harem can have to 1-2 and restrict how many Demiheris can be supported because of the financial burden they pose to the crown without providing any real benefit in return. However, the Medeid Dynasty controls a vast Queendom and has coffers well-lined to support many Demiheirs, not something most Gens can do at all.
The Harem Doctrine dictates that no less than 5 Trueborn Heirs must be sired with the Paramour. This will secure the LOS for the Stripe, and only after this minimum has been met is a Consort allowed to be entertained. The Consort is chosen out of love but does need prior approval from the Harem Small Council. Two Chosen Heirs are preferred from each Consort in the harem before a Concubine is integrated. Concubines are selected and vetted by the Harem Small Council with input from the Stripekeeper where possible. A limit of nine is set in place and only one Demiheir is needed from each Concubine.   A Concubine can be removed from the Harem by the Small Council for any offense. If the Concubine has sired at least one Demiheir, the Harem Small Council needs the final approval of the Stripekeeper to dismiss them. Consorts can only be dismissed by the Stripekeeper once a case has been brought before the Small Council. Paramours cannot be dismissed at all bar Imperial Decrees from the Emperor or Empress of the Five Paths Empire. Any Harem member dismissed from the Harem, regardless of offspring, remains within the Medeid Dynasty as a Lord or Lady, given a small fief and household somewhere within the Queendom.   Outside of the security risks that come with dismissing a Harem member out of the Dynasty entirely, keeping them around as a Lord or Lady allows the Dynasty to further dictate control of locations, realms, or planets to trusted persons.
Dynastic Heraldry
The House of Ryah has the Office of the Heraldric Master, the Heraldric Master (HEM) and their office handles the Full Standards (Mon, Plaid, and Words) of the House as well as all legally authorized Gens and all the Stripes within the Gen itself. The HEM has a local Office within the Dynasty itself which reports to the HQs Office directly. The local HEM is responsible for regulating the Gen Full Standard as well as the Standards of all its Stripes. A Stripekeeper is entitled to their own unique Full Standard as well as the Genlord, both of which will need to be submitted to the HEM and approved. Any other persons wishing to bear a unique Full Standard must submit a request to the Keeper's Council and if approved, will then need to be approved by the HEM.

Legislative Body

The Keepers Council writes the laws of the Medeid Dynasty, a legislative body composed of the Stripekeeper from each Stripe within the Gen, where they serve for however long they hold the position of Stripekeeper. The Keeper's Council comprises a single floor, all of the Stripekeepers, a total of some 30 nobles, and each Stripe only has 15 Voting Points (450 Voting Points in total). A two-thirds majority (~300 Voting Points) is needed to pass legislation. If no consensus can be met, Session II and Session III on the same issue are held again mere revolutions apart. If Session III cannot reach a verdict, the Genlord becomes involved with a vote worth 150 Voting Points to break the stalemate. Alternatively, the Genlord can also abolish the legislation after Session III.
Judicial Body

The Medeid Dynasty Internal Justice Path (MDIJP) is the judicial body of the Dynasty composed of arbitrators appointed by previous Arbiters to serve for life. The first Arbiters were appointed by the Dynasty's founder Lady Medeam Kwosheno Al Ryah-Medeid. The MDIJP is the highest judicial body within the dynasty and can overturn any Small Council rulings as well as Stripe-specific court rulings. An MDIJP ruling can be challenged by the Keeper's Council or by the Genlord with majority support from the Keeper's Council.
Executive Body

The Genlord of the Medeid Dynasty is not the Queen of the Shaharazad Queendom, the Queen and the Genlord are two separate positions with two separate functions. The Genlord of the Dynasty is elected from the current Stripekeepers within the Keepers Council. The sitting Queen must approve the election, but once approved, the Genlord serves until death or removal. The Genlord can only be removed via a few movements.
  1. Imperial Decree
  2. The Keepers Council votes to remove them
  3. The Keepers Council brings a case before the MDIJP and after successfully finding them guilty, the MDIJP can remove the Genlord
While the Queen rules the Queendom, the Genlord rules the Dynasty and represents it to the House of Ryah on all matters. When both the Queen and the Genlord are both from the same Stripe, this is known as 'the Queen with both her hands in the pots' but this does not happen often.

The Dynasty Occupies the Executive Branch of the Queendom's Government

Peaceful

The Medeid dynasty strives to produce excellent heirs to become the new Shogun of the Five Paths Empire which often means bending over backward to appease Imperial parties and interest groups. The Empire has no shortage of persons who would strive to see the Medeid stripped of the Shogun title forevermore.

Member Gen

The Medeid dynasty wields considerable political influence within the House of Ryah as one of the more financially capable Gens. When paired with a Medeid Shogun within the Empire, the dynasty has immense influence and power within both the House and the Empire.
