Betony Estate

The Betony Estate stands atop a low hill overlooking the nearby Village of Stachys. A cobblestone road that switchbacks down the hill connects the estate to the settlement. After being run down from years of abandonment, a new owner arrived and her and the party renovated the estate to bring it back into use and grandeur.   The estates simple gardens wrap the house with an attached tower that appears to be much older than the house, yet elegantly incorporated into the new design.

Purpose / Function

It was built to house the Lord of Stachys. The estate was built adjacent to an ancient tower, incorporating it into the house itself.   The estate itself is one that can host local nobility for social gatherings and visits.

Alterations

Manor was belt off the side of an ancient tower. This tower seems to no longer serve a purpose, but was original used as a watchtower in the ancient days to Taldor.

Architecture

While the tower is entirely made of stone, the manor proper is made of both stone and wood. The stone is common from the Gold Canyon quarry, with the would having been shipped from the Verduran Forest for stronger and more elegant designs.   Around the outside of the building are simple gardens to provide an appeal from the stone path leading from town, past the front enerence, and into the stables just west of the house.

History

The house has a repuation for being haunted by the restless Spirit of Allis Betony. The locals are happy to tell anyone who will listen about the ghost, and the haunting is a favorite topic of discussion in the tavern. As a child, young Allis was never entirely reliable. While she was sweet, she often spoke to people who weren’t there, and this pattern continued as she aged. She never married, and in her last decade she became a recluse, living alone in the house. Locals still hear noises and see lights in the windows some nights, and the few people who tried to loot the house have been battered and beaten by unseen hands.
