Serul is a dangerous place. The seas are full of Sahaugin, the landscapes are treacherous and those that inhabit them are just as dangerous.
The inhabitants of Arlán, the continent where our campaign will start, is largely still wild, raw, and unsettled. The great powers of the land are new, having only been established within the last 200 years. This is because most of Landkind have only recently thrown of the chains of bondage imposed on them by The Fathomless Empire, an undersea state ruled by the Sahaugin , a race of piscine predators.
Nearly 200 years ago, The Burning Revolt was instigated by the sudden and cataclysmic emergence of the Twin Suns, a celestial pair of Gods that gave Landkind enough of an edge, through magic and faith, to push their opressors back from their coastlines, beneath the waves and into the deep from whence they came so long ago.
In the interim, the land has been settled by a variety of different people, seeking to carve our their own home and defend themselves as best they can. To the north of The Chains, the Principality of Trastamere holds sway over a mixed population of mostly Elves, humans, halflings, and a smattering of other races. The mountain stronghold of Markōmazz-Tor is home to most of dwarvenkind, while to the south, the great stepped plains are home to the Orcs of Ania.
