The Fathomless Empire
The seas are inhabited by a Sahaugin empire that once dominated even the landmasses, at least the coastal areas. They have been dealt a blow by the cataclysm brought on by the emergence of the Twin Suns , and this has left them weakened. Their iron grip on the world has slipped, but they still hold much power.
They make a practice of regularly raiding the southern coast of the continent of Arlán , where they hold sway over the coastline. Ever eager for captives, they enslave the local population for food and labor, the unfortunate souls deemed useless being harvested and dragged beneath the waves to feed the sharks and sahaugin who live nearby.
The seas are not safe, above or below the Sahaugin are still very powerful and will raid and pirate any crossing ships that are not heavily guarded. Most travel is done in caravans on the sea for protection, much like the old west. Some areas are avoided entirely, as the Sahaugin empire is still too strong there.

The Fathomless Empire is less active in the north these days, however raids on the coastlines are still seen from time to time. However, the Trastameri Navy and Coastal Levies are effective at repelling most before they get too serious.
Crusade (Cenobites)
The Cenobium abhors the Sahaugin and believes it is their duty to scour them from their land, and ensure they can no longer disrupt the lives of their community.
