Vyin'denar
Among all creatures of horrible destructive capability, few hold a candle to the bonfire that is the Great Red Wyrm. A forest fire given life, a volcano given thought, Vyin'denar is a spirit of unfathomable destruction with a determined mind making him all the more dangerous. Vyin'denar is the king of the Red Dragons, and his influence spreads even to other breeds of dragon.
Thankfully, this dragon is imprisoned beneath the earth, under an active volcano where he cannot harm the world with his wrath and ruin. But for how long can his chains be held?

Personal history
The tale told of when Vyin'denar came into being was in the time of the Dragon Emperors, when the great beasts still walked the earth. Vyin'denar was either an aspect, a sentient piece, or a servant of one of the Emperors, the forefather of all red dragons. When the Emperor was put to rest, the strongest of the Red Wyrms was determined to be Vyin'denar, and he ruled over endless leagues of land and hundreds of lesser dragons beneath his claws. This was even applicable to other Chromatic Dragons, with even Arngalor brought to heel.
However, a series of events in rapid succession would bring down the tyrant. As The Convergence approached, and the world was brought into chaos, a soup of wayward elemental energies. As the next age was fast approaching, a red star that had been orbiting in the sky degraded into the earth and came down in an apocalyptic fallout, creating the Sea of Fallen Stars where it fell, burying much of Vyin'denar's realm underwater.
Being lorded over by a creature capable of little more than ruin in a time of destruction and chaos didn't settle well with most of the inhabitants of the Impilturian Peninsula, and they began to plot the end of the Great Wyrm, who was quickly losing his grip over his allied dragons. As the lesser races began to band together underneath the banner of the human Impiltur I, a new combatant joined the fight against Vyin'denar, the Silver Dragon Nymbryxion came from the frozen north with the intention of bringing down the mightiest of all the red wyrms.
A great battle was fought in western Impiltur, lasting several weeks on end, with hundreds of thousands squaring off against the forces of destruction and being burned to a crisp, the flaming scars of Vyin'denar's fury unhealed and still burning to this day. The climax of the battle came when Nymbryxion dueled his crimson foe underneath the fully Converged Moons, and for four days the two dragons fought.
As the moons shifted away, and the world slowly calmed, the dust settling, Nymbryxion was found victorious over his subdued foe. But as the nature of a dragon of this caliber, slaying him was impossible. And thus, the greatest of the red dragons was buried beneath three miles of earth beneath a mountain. As the centuries passed, the hateful flame melted the rock of his prison, and the mountain became an active volcano that still coughs up lava to this day. He is still down there, still roaring to the molten stone that holds him.
But nothing lasts forever, and one day, the surface shall know the wrath of Vyin'denar once more.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
The best we can hope for is that Vyin'denar is a one-dimensional monster, a blindly ferocious creature with only the death and destruction on his agenda. However, being an unkillable immortal engine of elemental fire plucked from the heart of Char tens of thousands of years old gives perspective that its improbable nothing is rattling in the dragon's skull. Evidence points to some grand scheme undetectable by creatures with a finite lifespan, be it man or elf. Fear the creature that you cannot comprehend.
Wealth & Financial state
Perhaps most infuriating for the Red Dragon is the theft of his horde when he lost the Battle of the Convergence. When he was defeated and buried, not a single piece of treasure was buried with him, leaving him in a volcanic chamber without a copper to his name. The level of outrage this affront stands to Vyin'denar is unfathomable.
