The Charred Syndicate
Public Agenda
The Charred Ones publicly seek to right the wrongs of the Impilturian Empire, believing that the organization was a corrupt to the core realm. They preach that little can be done to redeem it, including the lands that it conquered and subjugated, and as such their targeted demographic is across the Sea of Fallen Stars in its entirety. The old must be burned away to clear the way for the new and pure.
Burned away is often taken literally.
History
In the land of Impiltur, a great battle took place during the Convergence, wreaking havoc upon the land. One side lost, and their god-like leader was sealed away. The victors became the Impilturian Empire, and spread out across the sea, occupying millions of square miles of land. However, the losers of that conflict did not go away permanently, and have been continually trying to disrupt the Empire for well over a thousand years.
At first most were happy to be under the benevolent rule, but nearly 500 years after the founding of the Empire did the opposition truly take root, and a great many sects sprouted with the intent of dismantling Impiltur from inside and out. The Charred Syndicate is perhaps the most prominent of these groups, and actively works against the ancient remains of the Empire, despite its fall happening over 400 years ago.
