Calamity Peak
A prison of stone for the great enemy of Impiltur. Once a peak outstanding from the rest of the Earthfast Mountains, after the Battle of the Convergence, the defeated Great Red Wyrm was buried deep underneath the mountain, marking his immortal prison. However, the fury of Vyin'denar could not be bound, and his fiery fury bubbled upward, and turned a serene peak into a violent volcano, spewing forth the endless hate of the dragon. An eternal reminder of his destructive influence.
Geography
The area surrounding the active mountain is a rolling plain of blackened earth, devastated by constant fire, snuffing out any chance of life. The area just outside this blackened pasture however is some of the richest earth, and heavily prized. This area is known as the Searing Heights, which encompass up onto the mountain side.
The peak itself is much smaller than its original height, due to its rock molten into lava and spread across the countryside. Plumes of black smoke continuously erupt from the top, plunging the area into eternal night. Rivers of molten rock run slowly across the sides of the mountain, bubbling out of lava tubes that channel down into the very heart of the disaster.
Spiraling tunnels full of magma twist their way down into the expansive lava chamber far beneath the earth. The colossal bubble in the midst of the fiery hell around it offers a traveller's path downward, deeper until a lake of searing fire covers the floor. Beneath this, a pocket sits with a ceiling of magma lighting the interior. Within this pocket lairs the greatest of the red dragons, kept in this spot.
