Gorciffin County
Government
Like most titles in Swynfaredia, the County of Gorciffin is held by a hereditary title that passes to the eldest child, regardless of sex but succession ignores any child without sorcery. Eire inherited the title from her mother who inherited the title from her father.
The Countess runs the area like a manorial estate. Essentially the Countess is the boss and every man, woman, and child is her direct employee and ward. She feeds, clothes, and pays everyone and collects all their produce.
She controls the grain silos, the mill, the guard stations, and her soldiers patrol the trails and the countess is the middleman for imports and exports.
Defences
The watchtowers are safer than sleeping in a tent, but they aren't true military structures. The county soldiers are mobile and know the terrain well, they also have flying potions just in case.
Industry & Trade
The area has good soil for growing crops, but is dependent on rainfall because water sources for irrigation are not available, and surplus can't be moved very far.
Also, there is ample timber, but again, it's hard to transport far.
In order to trade with the outside world, they need to trade small light valuable items. That means high quality products of carpentry and reagents gleaned from the forests.
The surplus food grown supports carpenters and reagent foragers.
Infrastructure
Countess Eira ap Kovenoth has a modest castle surrounded by the farmers and carpenters' villages. This is where most people live and work.
There are also small watchtower/fortress which are waylay points for reagent foragers to not get lost and have safe places to sleep while on expeditions.
History
House Kovenoth was one of the founding houses of the Kingdom of Swynfaredia, but they have suffered a lot of setbacks. On paper, they control a lot of land, but in reality, they are barely more than a laughing stock since the lands they control are not very prestigious and Gorciffin County is probably their least prestigious Kovenoth holdings. Sometimes nicknamed "Swynfaredia's Armpit".
Countess Eria ap Kovenoth does not mind her lack of prestige and thinks of her holding more as a sanctuary than an armpit. Her lack of prestige means that her feudal betters pretty much leave her alone, so she has more autonomy than most other Swynfaredian counts and countesses have.
As long as she gives her liege a couple hundred drams of reagents once a year, she can run her realm as she sees fit.
Geography
As the crow flies, Gorciffin County is not very far from the Old Swynfaredia Region but in practical terms it's far away. There aren't any navigable waterways nearby and the roads aren't very good. By the three ox rule, this means it's prohibitively expensive to move bulk goods to and from the County.
The county is also near land of Fumaya and land of Codenya. Even with Fumaya and Swynfaredia at war, this front has been fairly quiet and this rugged terrain makes soldiers hard to supply and this areas is not really fighting over.
Climate
Temperate with hot summers and cold winters.
