Session 23 Notes
Recorded January 4, 2025
Our thanks to Ben for his extra effort with the notes.
General Summary
- John asks Carlton Ramsey about the Stumbling Tiger and he said he had never heard of it and he doesn't travel with Jackson.
- We decide to head to Prospero House Books to speak with Jonah Kensington, it is possible that he has all of the notes that Jackson Elias collected on his current investigation.
- We take the train and it triggers Cillian to recall his vision of being on the train in the African plains.
- We manage to make it to Prospero house on Lexington Avenue at 35 Street.
- We are met by a clerk, Kenneth Newton, at the desk who strangely asks us if we are allergic to cats, but he does lead us to Kensington's office.
- The office is very small and it is full of cats
- He takes us to a conference room to speak.
- We tell him what we are about and that we intend to continue Jackson's investigation.
- Kensington said he believes, like the police, that what he was involved in was very dangerous.
- Jackson sent him some notes. He opens the folder that Kenneth brought in. He slides some items out of the folder without opening it all the way, and pushes them across the table to us.
- After receiving the above in August, he got a Telegram on September 19, 1924, telling Kensington that he was in Hong Kong continuing his investigations.
- In the middle of December they heard from him, he called, from London. He was in the hospital and said that he had new information.
- Received another Telegram on Jan 3, 1925, that he discovered something incredible that was a worldwide conspiracy and that he needed to go to Australia. We got the handout Telegram to Prospero House.
- On Jan 13 Jackson was in the office to see Kensington and dropped more stuff off to Kenneth.
- Received a Photograph of a Ship Elias left. We aren't sure, but it looks like a photograph of Hong Kong.
- He has both the Letter from Floyd and the wire from Cillian.
- What remains in the folder is a weird, ratty, group of papers that are Jackson's notes. Multiple sheets of paper are stitched together. Others are folded in various weird ways, with no pattern or reason.
- There are several blank sheets. There are also several sheets that have single words written over and over in an erratic hand, that is Jackson's.
- Given Jackson's Strange Writings.
- John is able to glean that the weird symbol to left of the checkerboard looks like the same symbol that was carved in Jackson's forehead.
- He says that he can't get us in to see Erica Carlyle, we are going to have to figure that out on our own.
- She lives in West Chester.
- We talk about Jackson's state of mind and the possible reasons he would have had to go to Australia.
- One of those pages had hidden writing
- Kensington gives Doc the phone number for Rebecca Shosenburg and he tries to call her to set up a meeting.
- The line rings through and it is answered at a desk and she isn't there. He leaves a message.
- As we go to sleep:
- Boris- has a wonderful night sleep, wakes fully rested.
- Cillian- has dreams of being in some sort of European city, he fells like someone is chasing him in those dreams.
- Floyd- Sleeps well, has pleasant dreams of being on a beach, wakes fully rested.
- In the morning, John and Boris go to the BMV to ask about the license plate. Cillian and Doc move forward trying to contact the reporter.
- Cillian and Doc head to the New York Times to try and meet with Shosenberg.
- The building is a flurry of activity, but we find the floor where she works.
- We are able get pointed to her desk and we see that she is coming out of a room and heading to her desk.
- It is the same reporter as the one from the funeral.
- We approach and Doc strikes up a conversation. She agrees to go with us to a diner to talk.
- She admits she is not exactly supposed to be working on the story because the murders are considered solved.
- She says that she doesn't believe that Hilton Adams is guilty of any of the other murders.
- She shows us a ton of articles, Articles About the New York City Murders, one on each of the other murders.
- Each murder was associated with the symbol.
- Captain Walter Robson was put in charge of the investigation and it was only then that they started to associate all of the murders together.
- Robson just wanted it solved and so they just put it on Hilton Adams Adams.
- She says that Robson wanted the case, didn't hear it from him directly, but the precinct was talking about.
- She said that Dr. Mordecai Lemming was a fraud and felt he had a high opinion of himself.
- She was able to tell us where to find Lemming, he stays at the Murray Hill Hotel. 40th and Park Ave.
- She said that she didn't think the police bought into the idea of an African Death Cult, but it added to the sensationalism.
- She said that she might be able to convince Millie Adams, his wife, to endorse an interview.
- Floyd is able to piece together that the person murdered, Catalina Lopez, that lady was one of the people we rescued from the Faucher Crypt in Saint Louis Cemetery #1 in New Orleans Orleans.
- We ended the session there.

To Publish or Not to Publish
Now that he is gone and the spell is broken, the actual fear is greater. Memories and possibilities are ever more hideous than realities.
