Elves
The Elves are an ancient race of humanoids that span across the majority of Ruten and even into many of the other planes of existence. They are an ancient race, preceding many other races, and like many of the other ancient races they have extremely long lifespans, with some living to be a thousand years old. Elves are a very prideful and egotistical race, often looking down on other races as inferior, or at least not as advanced as their own. This extends even into the various subspecies of elves, with High Elves being seen as the most important of elves and the Drow being looked at as disgraceful.
Basic Information
Anatomy
While it varies between elves, most are slender creatures with pointed ears and large, slanted eyes. Their skin can vary from human-looking to several more noticeable colors, such as greens and purples.
Genetics and Reproduction
Elves have a similar reproduction cycle to humans, with a nine-month pregnancy cycle that results in an average of one to two children.
Growth Rate & Stages
Elves grow to an adult's size much slower than a human, but their minds grow at the same rate as a human.
Ecology and Habitats
Though the stereotype is that they often live in forests, with the exception of Wood Elves and Drow, they tend to live in large cities anywhere in the world.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Similar to humans, elves are omnivores, however their diet often consists of primarily fruits, vegetables, and various herbs that they grow in their own cities. Elves that live in mixed-race cities usually shift to a diet closer to humans fairly quickly.
Biological Cycle
The bodies of an elf age incredibly slowly, allowing them to keep a youthful image for much longer than many other races. However, their bodies can still weather, and because of this, an elf that works outside doing hard labor can age much quicker than other elves.

Due to their large eyes, all elves are able to see in darkness much better than humans can. The shape of their ears allow them to hear much better than many other races, picking up sounds that smaller, more rounded ears can't.
Civilization and Culture
Beauty Ideals
Physical perfection is a sign of beauty in most elf cultures, with the exception of Wood Elves. Any marks on one's body, outside of scars from battle, are looked at as disgusting and impolite to reveal. Battle scars are looked at with respect and honor, which translates into a form of beauty in elven culture also.
Gender Ideals
Gender is a fairly fluid concept in elven communities. Sex and gender are not seen as correlated to elves, so while the sex of an elf is considered a rigid fact, they do not put any limits on their gender identities.
Average Technological Level
The elves are slightly advanced in technology when compared to other races, specifically in their agricultural and natural technologies. They have developed many tools and strategies for growth and formation of their foods and natural products.
Major Language Groups and Dialects
Almost all elves are capable of speaking Elven and Common, but many also learn to speak Sylvan at an early age.
Common Dress Code
Regal dressings are a sign of power in elven culture, and because of this many elves will attempt to dress as fancy as possible. This is seen less in mixed race cultures, but may still stand in many of them.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Interspecies relationships are often socially frowned upon, with elves usually considering other races to be lesser beings. However, in some places this stigma does not exist, and in these locations elves intermingle with many of the other sentient races.
Lifespan
While it varies between races, most average 600 years and can live to be 1000 years old.
Average Physique
Elves generally have a slimmer build, allowing them to move quickly and gracefully.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Elves can vary drastically in skin tone, ranging from an icy white to a deep obsidian to everything in between.
