Steppes
The Steppes are an area of grassland to the south of the Forest of Frost located in both the northern areas of the Hoary Wastes and the north-eastern corner of Ketterzan. They are inhabitted by the Cossacks - free-loving bandits and nomads who have rejected their nationalities in the official states.

The steppes are vast, flat praries of colourful feather-grass.
History
Historically, the Steppes were the territory of the Polkan (centaur) Cossacks, but it has since been encompassed by the Colden Horde, and to a lesser extent the state of Ketterzan. Even under these two regimes, however, the Steppes remain a distinct wild country under rule of the Cossacks. Because of the relative freedom offered by the Cossack lifestyle, many people of other races (particularly Dwarves, and animal folk) have migrated to the steppes in more recent times.
