Illudore

Illudore is a city state run by mages. The ruling council is Almlak Warpstar, Falrin Breezebow, Havla Cavernfang, Felicia Gloryheart, Garugal Flameseer, Pyra Cinderfall,Keynala Oakenmane, Alakazam and Iplith Shimmerscale. One for each school of magic and a 9th archmage. 9 is the tiebreaker for the council, as well as the one who keeps the others in line. They convene in a special room atop the Arcane Academy the state is built around, but their powerful magic allows them to have their own homes all over the city, and beyond.

History

Illudore was founded by a group of mages who wanted the freedom to push the boundaries of magic, even if it became dangerous. So they went into an unpopulated area and began building a home for themselves. Far from the rest of the world, they could blow themselves up with no risk to others. Their magical haven of discovery soon attracted other like minded casters. And even non casters, hoping to either learn magic or benefit from the plethora of mages running around. Nothing like an army of wizards to drive away monsters, and their magic could be used for more domestic purposes as well as spectacular, flashy ones. Before long, the mages found themselves with a city around them. They decided to educate the masses, and set up the Arcane Academy.

Relations

The city as a whole attempts to remain neutral. Although individual councilors have people or countries that they like. They could be swayed to send help to their friends.

The Council

The council requires a majority for any major decisions. Minor, day to day affairs are generally handled by Shimmerscale, with input from the others being appreciated and valued. They convene in a specially designed room on top of the academy. The room has no doors, windows or other openings. The only way in is to teleport.
