SESSION 1: THE OWLBEAR'S CRY

 

Scene 1: The Chokurri Elves' Village

Description:
As the players approach the Chokurri Elves' village, they are greeted by a group of elves. Yalara, the leader of the Chokurri Elves, explains that an owlbear and her cub have been causing chaos in the nearby woods. The owlbear is typically peaceful, but something has been threatening her and her cub. Yalara suggests that the players investigate the woods to see if they can find out what is causing the owlbear's distress.  

Scene 2: The Owlbear's Den

Owlbear, Owlbear Cub  
Description:
The players enter the woods and find the owlbear's den. They hear the owlbear's cries and growls, and soon enough, they see the massive creature herself, along with her adorable cub. The owlbear is clearly agitated and fiercely protective of her cub. If the players succeed in passing a DC 10 Animal Handling check, they can calm the owlbear and gain her trust.
The owlbear communicates to the players that she and her cub are being threatened by a dark force in the woods, which she cannot identify. She needs the players' help to investigate and eliminate this threat.  

Scene 3: The Lost Merchant

Description:
While investigating the woods, the players encounter a lost merchant who appears to be in distress. The merchant claims to have lost his way and asks for the players' help in finding his way back to the main road. The merchant is actually a wicked Fairy in disguise, looking to lure the players into a trap.   If the players accept the merchant's request for help, they will be led into a trap, where they will have to use their wits to escape. If they manage to do so, they will discover that the merchant was actually a wicked fairy in disguise, who was trying to lead them astray.  

Scene 4: The Puzzle

Description:
As the players continue their investigation, they come across a hidden entrance to a secret area. To enter, they must solve a puzzle. The puzzle has no correct answer, and the players must simply be confident in their choice to succeed.
As the players solve the puzzle and enter the secret area, they discover a magical item with a fairy theme, offered at a steep discount by the lost merchant. However, any character who attunes to it becomes cursed with a new flaw, "I can't do anything right," which causes them to become stunned for one round if they fail a skill check by 5 or more thereafter, only able to stammer about their mistakes while also making disparaging comments about their task failure. The players will have the option to decline the item, to eventually remove the curse in a later adventure module, or to avoid attuning to it altogether.  

SESSION 2: THE CHOKURRI TRIBE

Description:
The players return to the Chokurri Elves' village and report their findings. Yalara is grateful for their help and invites them to learn more about the Chokurri Elves and their history. The players are introduced to the Chokurri Elves, a reclusive tribe that has remained hidden from much of the outside world. The Chokurri Elves have a rich history, and the players can learn more about them through conversation and exploration.  

Scene 2: The Threat

Chokurri Elves, Goblins  
Description:
The players are informed that a group of goblins has been spotted in the woods. The Chokurri Elves are concerned that the goblins may pose a threat to their village, and they ask the players to investigate. As the players explore the woods, they encounter the goblins and engage in combat. If the players succeed, they can gain valuable information about the goblins' plans.   Scene 3: The Dilemma   Location: The Woods NPCs: None   Description: As the players After solving the puzzle and opening the door, the players find themselves in a dimly lit room with a large pedestal in the center. Upon the pedestal is a small, glittering object that glows with a soft, warm light. This is the fairy-themed magic item that the lost merchant was offering to sell to the players. The object is a small, intricately designed crystal, shaped like a butterfly with shimmering wings that catch and reflect the light.   As the players approach the pedestal, they hear a faint, high-pitched voice that seems to be coming from the crystal itself. The voice offers to sell the item to the players at a steep discount but warns them that there is a curse attached to it. The voice explains that whoever attunes to the item will become cursed with a new flaw, "I can't do anything right," which will cause them to become stunned for one round if they fail a skill check by 5 or more thereafter. The players will have the option to decline the item or to avoid attuning to it altogether, but if they choose to accept it, they can purchase it for a reduced price.   The players can then return to the owlbear and her cub to deliver the news of their successful quest. The owlbear and cub are overjoyed and express their gratitude to the players. From this point on, they will have a friendly relationship with the players and will be willing to aid them in the future if needed.   As the players make their way back to the Chokurri Elves' village, they encounter one final obstacle: a group of hostile goblins that are blocking their path. The goblins are led by a fierce Hobgoblin warrior named Grimgor, who demands that the players turn over any valuables they may have.   If the players manage to defeat Grimgor and his Goblin minions, they can loot a small treasure hoard that the goblins have been hoarding. Among the treasure, they find a map that leads to a nearby ruined fortress that is said to be filled with treasure and danger. This can lead to another adventure for the players, or they can simply return to the Chokurri Elves' village and revel in their success.   The End.

Themes

Themes of self-confidence and false representation abound. Believe in yourself, don't be so quick to trust others.
