Throne Cities of Lolth
At first, the drow were almost amused to hear about the destruction that the surfacers had inflicted on one another. For years they had been losing territory to technologically superior Dwarves as they built their endless railways, and most drow were glad that the surface had been obliterated. Then they lost contact with Lolth. At first the high clerics kept their powerlessness a secret, but it wasn't long before the lower casts began to take notice. In many cities there were uprisings. Without her influence, it was like a haze had been lifted on the drow, and lower casts rebelled, driving many noble houses into hiding. A handful of drow cities were even in the midst of establishing democracy when Alakezan lit his beacon. The noble houses returned with a vengeance, led by a manifestation of Lolth herself. One by one the nobility reclaimed their cities and brutally punished those who had dared rebel against their god and lords. Now the drow are focusing their efforts on reclaiming their place as the most powerful civilization in the Underdark, vying for territory with each other, the Census , and the Conductors, and taking slaves from the various surface refugees. There have been sightings of drow fleeing their cities and seeking passage through the Deep Lines. Perhaps a select few drow cannot shake a newfound taste for freedom, and seek to regroup behind dwarven lines.
