Cavern of the Vindicated Moth

A deep wonder of the Underdark, predating the Deep Lines, predating magiological warfare. The cavern is the home of a great moth that burns with the intensity of the sun. The cavern is unnaturally round, and the floor is covered in a perfectly soft white sand, which stretches from wall to wall in gently rolling dunes. The whole place has a sort of curated feeling, as if each grain of sand was individually placed in accordance with some greater purpose, and those walking through this subterranean desert have the sense of disturbing something sacred with their footprints. There is no wind here save for a slight breeze from the moth’s wings, and the entire cavern is eerily silent, all sound is absorbed by the sands. The cavern itself is almost perfectly round, and at the very center of the cave is a pyramid temple that can be seen from the whole of the cavern and has stood for an eon. When the moth sleeps, it clings to the ceiling and fans its wings, emitting the purest moonlight in place of its usual blazing radiance.
The cavern of the Vindicated Moth is one of the only sources of sunlight left to the people of Rockfall, and one of the few places the deep races are hesitant to go for that reason. Some humans have tried to grow surface crops here, but the sands refuse to be tilled, and the heat from the moth withers most plant life.
The cavern of the Vindicated Moth is the home to the fraternity of the scorpion, a group of male drow rebel monks who wear blindfolds and train to fight in what, to them, is blinding light.
