The Surface

The surface of Rockfall is a blasted, barren, frozen place. Nearly the entire surface of the world has been impacted by some form of mass destruction magic, and this has the greatest impact on the environments. Sunny plains are now inhospitable tundra after deadly freezing blasts. What once was a thriving forest is now charred and burnt by volcanic explosions. Sprawling cities lie in ruins, still tormented by unnaturally lingering lightning storms. The ash of millions of incinerated people blow on the winds and wild necromantic energy reanimates this dust into humanoid shapes across the world, ambushing survivors indiscriminately. Frequent magical surges mutate flesh and distort reality. The only places on Rockfall not destroyed by magic were the places that were already inhospitable to civilization. As such, some barbarian clans still roam the deserts and badlands, their lives relatively unchanged by the madness of war.
