Raiding The Clans
The Conflict
Prelude
After the Truce of Tukayyid, many contracts openned up to garrison along the border with the clan invasion zones. This opened up the oprotunity to launch small raiding parties onto worlds occupied by the clans. This allowed untested soldiers a taste of combat against clan warriors. Recon missions were also launched to gather valuable information on how the clans operate and make war.
The Engagement
On April 12th, 3055, Mai Tran-Kruger and Rafeal Arano are seporated from the rest of their team while evading a clan Jade Falcon Trinary during a raiding mission on Morges. The two made a stand against a Heavy Star that pursued them. The pair successfully defended themselves despite being heavily damaged. The star was destroyed allowing the two to return to their dropship and depart the system. Mai carried a freshly captured bondsman with her named Lotte.
A recon mission in 3056 on the occupied planet of Orkney ended in disaster when Lucas Kruger led his lance into battle against a pair of Jade Falcon and Steel Viper Battlemech stars. Lucas would be the only member of the lance to survive. The inquiry that followed absolved him of any misconduct, however, his sister Mai Tran-Kruger held him responsible for the loss of the recon lance. The resulting conflict between the two caused Lucas to depart the company. (See Incident Report OKY-30540810 for details)
Aftermath
The various raids allowed the Riesenjager to practice various strategies and tactics against the clan warriors. This eventually led to the adoption of the 5 unit lance within the company.
