Varajmaar

Varajmaar is a city that lies in the north of the Kingdom of Durabryn on the banks of Lake Kyynemetta. Nestled up in the mountains, overshadowed by the tall peaks of The Knives, many would not expect an isolated city such as Varajmaar to be as large and as prosperous as it is. However, due to the vast abundance of precious metals and other natural resources that can be mined from the surrounding area, Varajamaar is a crucial settlement to the production and income of Durabryn. Silver and gold are among the ores mined from the surrounding mountains, due to the isolated location, much of the craftsmen and artisan that would normally import the metals to their workshops in the more accessible cities have relocated in the city of Varajmaar to reduce shipment costs. Most exports from the city have to contend with the winding and steep paths of the Cayan Ridge to reach the rest of the central kingdoms, as such, much of the commodities are transported via a complex system of river locks that slowly descend down the mountains, often parallel to the original rapids of the natural river.
