Hjalitz

Hjalitz is the capital of the southern Kingdom of Sarbrynia. The city lays upon the coast, strewn amongst rocky outcropping and the river valleys that border the sea. Hjalitz boasts the largest ports and merchant wharfs within the entire Brynic Confederacy, the port city being located in a prime position to dominate trade not only across the Ochar Sea in the Kingdoms of Breuic and Volnia, but also inland to the many trading towns and cities that straddle the Bryn River and its tributaries.
Being the capital of Sarbrynia, Hjalitz host both the Royal Palace and the theatres of parliament within its borders, both being located on the Bryn estuary. The city is revered both locally and by travellers for its vibrant architecture, most buildings being constructed from Whitestone and painted an assortment of bright colours, the predominantly flat roofs decorated by ornamental flourishes. The palace and the parliament, however, are spectacles in their own right. Both displaying intricate gothic stonework and tall, spire roofs; they provide the focal points of the south side of Hjalitz.
In the western sections of Hjalitz can be found some of the city’s most important historical monuments. The church of Auta sits upon a hill overlooking the sea, it’s stained glass window and tall, orange tiled roofs, said to have stood for over a thousand years. To its west again, the old castle sits resolute upon a tall crag above the converging rivers rushing to the ocean, the kings of old sarbrynia forced to leave its protection after rebellion brought parliament into being.
