Shared customary codes and values

The Durian people are fiercely well-mannered, being polite and welcoming to others is seen as a highly laudable trait. Just as much as manners though, the Durian people respect a cunning man. A man may lie, steal, cheat, as long as he does so with a veil of kindness and respect. It is thus customary for the Durian people to be vary wary of outsiders, often being very close with their family members but rather detached from their wider community.
