Carpenter

A Carpenter is generally a craftsman that assembles structures from wood. While this may be seen as an umbrella term for such other professions as an engineer, millwright and shipwright, it certainly has a great deal of overlap in the skills and methods used. The Carpenter would be responsible for sourcing wood for construction projects, felling suitable trees to be debranched and debarked before squaring up the trunk. The trunk may be required for further cutting which may be done by the carpenter but for many applications is largely handled by specialist Sawyers. The wooden beams could then be transported to either the final worksite or to a framing yard, where the master carpenter could pre-assemble the structure as intended before disassembly and transportation to the project site.
