Illuthania

Illuthania is a relatively large sized city in the northern most state of the The Artwinian Empire. When the Sinkholes of the Northeast first started appearing in the Ornithian state Gallen, Artwinians began to fall victim to beasts they had never seen before. Slowly at first, but over the years they grew in number and soon were collectively referred to as Hallow Bugs. Soon along with the bugs came Hallow Spiders as the sinkholes started to increase in frequency. Once the link was established, the Illuthania citizens began to migrate south to safer cities.
One of the few larger sinkholes that appeared in Artwin territory was several miles outside of the city. The city watch was quickly overrun and the remaining citizens were set upon by the bugs. Hundreds of people were gathered in a temple of Diavna to beg for mercy and pray for protection against the monstrous insects. Among those in the temple were what was left of the city watch along with a small troop of members of The Gold Company. When the bugs broke through the barricaded doors the fighting men held them back. For two days led by the men of the Gold Company they slaughtered the insects. On the morning of the third day the last bug had finally been killed. Though broken and burning, the city had survived and was able to be rebuilt.
