Sinkholes of the Northeast

In the Northeastern most region of Renúdetla stands the human The Gremeliam Empire, flanked by the The Artwinian Empire towards the medial side of the continent, and the sea on the other. Once, the capital of The Gremeliam Empire was in the northern state Gallen in a city called Meladonta. As the empire established itself, it declared that the shared border with the Artwinian Empire extended to the northern The Hollow Mountain range, to which the Artwinian Empire agreed. Over the centuries the two kingdoms continued to have both minor and major border conflicts and expanded their territories further south, leaving the Hollow Mountains to their backs.

Manifestation

Over the centuries, sinkholes of all various sizes began popping up in the state of Gallen. It was never connected that the appearance of new sinkholes was often a precursor to an influx of Hallow Spiders and Hallow Bugs. One fateful day, an enormous sinkhole erupted in the middle of the city of Melodonta, swallowing entire blocks in a matter of moments and killing hundreds. Before the city could respond to such a catastrophe, a swarm of Hallow bugs flooded the streets and clogged the buildings. The city was overrun in a matter of hours.

Localization

The state of Gallen in the Gremelium Empire. There have been some smaller sinkholes found in the northernmost states of the Artwinian Empire; the Artwinian city Illuthania was nearly overrun by hallow bugs after the collapse of Melodonta, however the majority of the dramatic geographical change is occurring in Gallen.
