Caverns of Silence
A collection of large caverns in the Meridan Underdark south of the Darkhome mithril mining zone. The caverns are a uniform dull grey stone. Those who venture into the caverns will find themselves smothered in unnatural silence; voices are muffled, footsteps are inaudible, and the caverns are utterly lifeless around them. And then they see movement, but the moving things are wrong; they are the same dead grey as the rest of the caverns, and none of them have eyes.
And then the walls try to eat them, and the stalactites fall and aim for their heads.
In truth, the caverns are the home of The Silence, an alien mental collective of souls that animates the stone of the entire area. They are not innately hostile, but with something so alien, hostility is not necessary for harm...
Fauna & Flora
The only life in the caverns are eyeless stone creatures animated by the Silence. The most prominent among these is a stone hydra.
