Aethereal Order

High Advisor:

The Aethereal Order is a religious order that is focused on the worship of Valinatus, The Whispering Wind. Their main goals is mostly to make sure that the people of Elysium receive some form of education and provide additional guidance to those who can cast any form of magic. As one might expect, the Aethereal Order does have heavy ties to the Guild of Mages.

Mythology & Lore

Because of their focus on study, knowledge, and magic, there are many different debates and theories within the religion itself. One prime example is how the creation of The Whispering Wind came about. 
A leading theory is that once a mage has obtained a high level spell casting ability they have the power to become one with Aether winds itself, transporting their corpoeral form to become a part of the Aethereal Plane. From there, they become a part of the Whispering Wind, adding their power and knowledge to the great collective. 
The overall goal of said process is that eventually Valinatus, The Whispering Wind will become powerful enough that all knowledge and spell casters will become a part of them, granted an unparalleled state of being for mages.

Cosmological Views

Members of the Order believe that Aether, the spirit of creatures, and physical matter are effectively the same thing. This is reason that magic is able to affect all forms of energy and matter. So based on this conclusion, all other planes of existence must have originated from the Aethereal Plane in one way or another. This includes the other deities as well.

Ethics

Dispute the tenants of Valinatus, The Whispering Wind saying that those who are uneducated should seek knowledge, The Order feels very strongly that the seeking of knowledge must be done of ones free will. They provide resources to the public of Elysium, essentially acting as public schools or home scholars for the populace and those who ask, but they do not actively seek to add members to The Order.

Worship

Worship within the religion is typically done in the following ways:
 

• Teaching others, either in magic or general knowledge
• Increasing your own magical abilities through study and practice
•  A form of meditation that is esssentially meant to be a way to form a stronger connection with the Aether. 

Priesthood

The Order is lead by a High Advisor. In order to become a High Advisor, a council of at least 5 other advisors, those who have proven their knowledge and ability to wield magic at a high enough level. Similarly, Advisors must prove their skill to other members of the Order and must have the approval of at least 15 other members.
The advisors and high advisor help to keep the tenants of the faith of The Order by assigning tasks to the members. Ultimately they tend to share all knowledge they can with each other, regardless of station.
