Area - Ardecha Polya

Overview

The Ardecha Polya is a vast expanse of open plains that stretches across much of central Ardechia, forming a significant part of the Heartlands region. Nestled between three mountainous areas, it serves as the fertile and temperate heart of the kingdom, rich in agricultural and pastoral activity.

The name

The name “Ardecha Polya” means “Red Fields” or “Red Plains” in the old tongue, a title rooted in the region’s bloody history. During the Great Migrations, the Slaya people waged brutal wars to claim south-eastern Arboria, clashing fiercely with the devastated Feynarin Elves. These conflicts, particularly the Masonite Crusade, left the plains stained with the blood of countless lives.     The battlefields of Ardecha Polya became a defining symbol of Human perseverance and sacrifice. After countless skirmishes, the Slaya pushed the Elves westward, only to face the Celeena - the Witch Queen in a catastrophic confrontation near Drakmire Keep. Celeena, driven to madness by her use of Dark Magic, wreaked havoc on the invading armies until she was ultimately defeated by The Mason in a climactic battle. This clash of divine will and dark sorcery left scars not only on the land but also on the identity of the Slaya people.   Having paid dearly in blood for their claim, the victors renamed themselves the Ardechi, meaning “the red ones”, commemorating their struggle and the sacrifice it entailed. To this day, they harbor a deep animosity toward Elves and practitioners of magic, reflecting the cultural legacy of those tumultuous times.

General Area

The Ardecha Polya is characterized by its expansive grasslands, dotted with pockets of forested groves and chains of hills, dissected by the River Lyuba and its many tributaries. Most settlements cluster along these waterways, with larger towns like Razpotye serving as trade and administrative hubs. The central plains are primarily used for farming and grazing, while the outer edges near the hills support woodcutting, quarrying, and mining.   The region's flat terrain is ideal for agriculture, with lush green grasslands dominating the landscape. A well-maintained paved highway connects the cities of Razpotye in the west and Rastina in the east, providing a vital trade route through the kingdom.

Culture & Safety

The Ardecha Polya is a well-guarded and relatively safe region, serving as the heartland of the Kingdom of Ardechia. Its people, devout followers of the Church of the Mason, are vigilant against perceived evils such as Witches and Warlocks, believing these to be the source of curses and monstrous spawn. Rumors of Vampires prowling the plains during full moons add an air of mystery and fear to the otherwise serene landscape.

Boundaries

The Ardecha Polya stretches from Ranyeno and Beligrad in the northwest close to the coast, down to Aydovina and Razpotye in the south. It wraps around the Pohorye Mountains extending eastward towards Rastina and the Bogland, and westward towards Sturmgard’s Becken. The region’s iconic grasslands, with their gentle rolling hills and vibrant greenery, mark it as a central and vital part of the Heartlands.
