Overview
Established in honor of
Arish, the revered prophet of the
Faith of Light, the
Paladins of Arish are a luminary order committed to shielding the magical world across
Arboria and beyond. With an unyielding determination, they stand as guardians against the threats of darkness that perennially seek to bring about the mortal world's ruin, corruption, or enslavement.
The Paladins of Arish were founded shortly after the unification of the
Belltic and
Waxon duchies, which marked the inception of modern-day
Sturmgard. Conceived as a professional body, they operate in specialized task forces, relentlessly defending the realms from both subtle and overt threats. Their mandate extends beyond the protective scope of local law enforcement or the army, their purpose is to detect and neutralize more elusive perils. These include magical crises involving curses, hauntings, the undead, vampires, demons, and nefarious practitioners of dark magic.
While chivalric knightly orders attract many youthful, ambitious individuals across the
northern realms, the
Paladins of Arish are
highly selective. They only recruit the most accomplished knights and those who display unwavering faith and purity of heart. Each potential candidate undergoes thorough observation and evaluation before they are offered the opportunity to join the ranks. Coupled with their stringent physical and mental training, the Paladins of Arish truly personify the steadfast shield of
The Pact of Light.
Location & Operation
The commanding base of the
Paladins of Arish is located in the impressive
Lichtspitze Citadel in
Sturmgard. While the monarchy founded the organization and it's often regarded as a militant arm of the
Faith of Light, it operates independently. Enjoying robust financial support from both the church and the crown, the Paladins of Arish serve as a formidable military force with two significant benefactors, each bestowing considerable authority and responsibility onto them.
Acting as the iron hand of both the church and crown, the Paladins' authority is seldom contested. Their influence extends across the nations that form part of
The Pact of Light, namely
Sturmgard,
Lynora,
Veyrun,
Lithayne, and
Ezrenhelm. However, their operations are met with a degree of suspicion beyond the pact's borders due to their formidable backers. Though this shadow of skepticism hasn't deterred them, the Paladins of Arish continue to forge ahead, resolute in their mission to protect against the encroaching darkness.
