The Searing Crater

"The fires in the Searing Crater burn so hot that even tieflings will hesitate entering there. I haven't seen it myself and I never plan on seeing it. Unless the pay is right."   ~ Unknown Pathfinder

Geography

The floor of the Searing Crater's soil is made from sand and obsidian glass that averages at temperatures around 110 degrees Fahrenheit. The hotter locations of the Searing Crater average around 125 degrees Fahrenheit. The air is thick with sulfur and phosphorus gases. The clouds are always dark even when very little rain is in them. When it does rain, if at all during the year, the rain is acidic and will cause immense pain when it touches bare flesh.   If any bodies of water that can be found bubble from the immense heat, toxic gases, or a combination of both. Lava flows from multiple openings on the ground that spread like water. Even when exposed to the air the lava cools at a slow rate. When hardened the constant winds in the area erode the obsidian at a rapid pace causing the glass like sand found within the Searing Crater.

Localized Phenomena

The Searing Crater has glass cyclones when a very powerful cold wind is sucked in, and mixes with the hot air causing a tornado to course through the land.

Fauna & Flora

The fauna of the Searing Crater is almost non existent. The only major fauna that can survive the Searing Crater is Fire Moss. Fire Moss is found on the edges of gas vents or bodies of water. Fire Moss feeds on the sulfurs gas in the environment. Magi hire Pathfinders to come to collect the moss to utilize as spell components. Fire Moss is utilized by magi to either craft items that are resistant to fire or noxious gases. They can also be used to craft items that deal fire damage.
